Was wasting some time browsing through my phone's app store and saw a lot of beer apps available. I use Untappd for fun, but what other apps are out there? Anyone recommend any others? Would love to hear what people are using out there!

    Cheers!

I mostly just use Untappd. It is an easy way to track what I've had and how I liked it. Plus it is handy for finding what beers are "trending" around town and what bars have them. I especially find it helpful when I'm visiting a different city and want to grab a pint or two, I can see what venues are nearby and what beers seem to be the buzz.

I occasionally will look at Beer Menus, but it doesn't seem many places close to me keep it up to date.

The Untappd app is certainly an easy to use one.

Beermenus is pretty much a requirement in NYC these days.

No apps, I just have a shortcut to Beer Advocate on my phone's browser. The "Nearby" function is particularly helpful on mobile when in a new town. And rating beers when visiting a brewery/bar is easy enough.

The Beer Advocate app will be mandatory when it returns after hiatus

DigitalPour is great for finding local taprooms that subscribe to that service. It tells you what's on tap. Unfortunately not every taproom subscribes - but still handy. For other taprooms, I find their tap list web page and create a bookmark on my homescreen.

I use Untappd and BeerMenus for local taplists around town.

The Beer NC app is good for more info on NC breweries though it is not yet complete (but does cover some events that may not make it on BA).

I also have the BJCPStyles app as well which I will use occasionally when looking at a less common style.

I've installed a few others but rarely use them (Crawler, Taplister, Findmytap, Taphunter, Brewery Passport)... mostly installed to find details of breweries when traveling.

As already stated, beer menus is becoming a must for what beer is available where. Too bad it is so cumbersome. I think they are more interested in signing up bars and stores than making it a good consumer experience.

Untappd is a great app that i've used off and on for a number of years. It's the best choice since Beeradvocate does not have an Android app... I'm looking at you @Todd and @Jason

Brewgene. They just did a redesign of the app and it works great.

They've hinted/said that an app is forthcoming. Besides the inevitable speed increase over the website, it would be great to see new features such as barcode scanning to lookup beers and an offline cache of the beer database for the many times you're in a store where cell coverage sucks and you want to see how it's rated, style, etc.

The mobile version of the BA website opens just fine on chrome.

Indeed, but not exactly an app in the sense I am speaking of though!

That would be nice for sure! I haven't had an iPhone in a number of years, but if I recall correctly there was a BA app and it was pretty good. I wouldn't mind that translating over to Android with or without an Android-esque update.

The Android app was very useful - even if they just initially adapted it to the subsequent changes, that would be a great Phase 1. For years folks have been moving towards mobile, and web doesn't work as well as apps - certainly apps are faster. I do sympathize with their problem of supporting two interfaces - web and app - plus complications of Android and iPhone, different OS versions, different phone brands, different languages, different screen resolutions, etc.

Yeah it's definitely not as simple as it sounds on the surface.

For brewery specific apps I have Abita, Goose Island, Sixpoint, New Belgium, Founders. It doesnt seem that a lot of breweries have their own apps.
