If a highly trained chef were to create a five course fine dining meal for you based around one beer as a theme, which beer would you choose?
I would first decide what styles of beer you'd want to go with. I went to a Dogfish dinner that was really interesting, can't find the one I went to but here's a similar one: http://www.bistroonbridge.com/menus/dogfishdinner/ They come up with some interesting stuff, I'd check them out for inspiration. The only thing I can think of is pairing a dark, roasty stout with a chocolate/raspberry cake for dessert.
I'm guessing you mean Iron Chef style where this one beer is used in each course? If so, I'd go with Adam for a few reasons: 1 It's one of my favourite beers of all time 2) The best beer based dish I've ever made used Adam http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/adam-bbq-sloppy-joes.94187/ 3) Adam has a lot of different flavours going on: ripe dark fruits, smoke, earth, peat, etc, which not only lend themselves to food, but lend themselves to a wide variety of foods. IPAs, for instance, are great in savory or spicy dishes, but would be difficult to work into a dessert, while BCBS, for instance, would be difficult to work into much of anything other than dessert. Adam, on the other hand, is well suited to just about anything. I think the biggest challenge would be a salad, but an Adam based fig balsamic on a spinach salad with blue cheese seems like it could work. Ont he other hand, maybe I'd go with something more challenging that I wouldn't be able to work with myself, like BCBS or St. Bernardus 12
