Going to my first Caps game Saturday night. Are there any local or craft beers sold at Verizon Center?
It's all InBev stuff for the most part. Beer selection sucks in that place now. It wasn't the best before, but you could at least get some local options.
It's really disappointing, especially considering the job Nats Park does at putting on local beers. The closest thing to 'craft' at the Verizon Center is Goose Island. I just stick with Bud tallboys when i'm there.
I remember a few years back they had tons of craft on the lower bowl concourse (DC Brau, Troegs, etc.) although I haven't been to too many games since I moved to NY so I am not sure if that changed.
Beer there sucks now, was never very good. I guess they increased the price to have a tap at the VZ center. Lots of great options nearby though. City Tap House, The Partisan, Chop House, RFD
I believe that Papa Ted signed a contract with InBev, hence why there is that new Budweiser Brew House located on the 2nd level. Some Heritage Brewing Co stuff is sold, but their beer is meh city. Lots of great options nearby as dhartogs has mentioned. You can also get beers at the Green Turtle, which is connected to the venue. Nats Park does the best job at supporting the local beer scene.
I second RFD, Chophouse, City Tap House, etc before games. Load up and then go watch us kick some Devils ass!
Thanks! Planning to pregame at RFD then post game at Blue Jacket. Sounds like it will be some GI IPA at game.
Went to Penn Commons last time I was in the area before a game and they had $5 pints of OTWOA. Things got a little hazy after that...
As someone else pointed out, craft beer is sold at Heritage Brew co. at the Verizon Center. I was at the Jackpot last weekend, and they had good beers on. Alewerks Bitter Valentine, Avery Vanilla Bean stout, Sixpoint CREAM, and some others I can't remember.
Seats were in upper deck. Beers on tap around us were Goose Island IPA, Hoegarden, Stella, and Blue Point Toasted Lager. Cans of Stella, Goose Island, 312, and Becks. Not great choices but enough to get us through great game and on to Blue jacket.
I'll also recommend RFD as your pre-game. Then nurse a Goose IPA during the game, and go somewhere else after.
