Beer Authority NYC

    So I've been checking their website for the last couple of weeks and still no sign of opening!

    I'm in NYC tomorrow, Thurs and Fri

    Anyone heard any rumours of an imminent opening date or is it still the standard - "open in a couple of weeks schpeel !!!"

    God knows what they're doing in there, underground Aquarium with a tunnel to the Hudson from which beer is deliverd by a team of Dolphins !!!???

    Where exactly is this place? Is it actually in Port Authority? Address says 40th and 9th, walked by there yesterday, couldn't find it, I am guessing it is inside somewhere ?

    Entrance is technically on 40th but the building hangs over the corner

    I go by this place 3 times a week and have been told since November that they will be opening "in a few weeks." Last I heard (3 weeks ago) they were waiting on their liquor license. I will pass by today and see if there's any new developments!

    My hotel is only 2 blocks away, I will pop by on Thursday, I don't expect anything mind!!!

    Checked it out last Friday, as I was stopping on W39 between 8th and 9th so not much of a detour

    Still not open!!!

    Looks finished, but has a temporary wooden baracade over the entrance

    No sign of any workmen to ask

    Back in NYC in May ... won't be hedging any bets on it being open by then either!!!

    I walked by yesterday and there were some guys inside but its not open yet, lots of work notices on the doors and a notification of an upcoming inspection taped to the window. i'm sure they're wanting to open as soon as possible but are just dealing with the tricky liquor licensing people.

    Is this the place that the Rattle n Hum team was opening? If so, don't hold your breath. Some unverified but reasonably credible rumors from the grapevine indicate there have been unexpected problems with the funding...

    That's what I had heard re: the Rattle'N'Hum link, although I believe it to be the owners and not to be confused with Patrick who was the manager and who is looking to set up something new independant to Beer Authority somewhere in Manhattan

    Not knowing the in's and out's I'd say they've got a near finished bar there, internals pictures on their website and the external is done, I'd be surprised if it was cashflow issues at this stage, but you never know!?!

    Yea I heard about this place recently and their website doesn't say shit. If anyone finds out, please bump this thread and let us know. I'll do the same if I find out anything.

    I didn't see any sign of a rooftop deck while sitting on my bus in Port Authority this morning.
    There is a lot of AC hardware on that roof. I can't see that rooftop bar as being to enticing, unless it's further down the block.

    I thought I have seen stuff set up on the roof along 8th ave, I walk by everyday, but could be wrong... i try and look tomorrow. i thought the ac stuff was more on the other side

    Walking by this morning, there is definitely an area on roof that seems like it will be used for a roof top bar. looks like its the half closer to 9th ave, while the ac units and billboard is on the 8th ave side... looks as if there is a covered room as well (probably the bar)

    OK that explains it....I could only see the 8th ave side from my bus overlooking the roof.

    I walked by it today and there were still work permits posted on the door...so my guess is that construction is still going on with it
