Actually, the majority of them are 14-ounce pours. If you've been there recently, their new digital menus behind the bar now show the size of the pour. They only pour two sizes: 8 ounces and 14 ounces.

By the way, there's a place that opened last week on the LES with 36 taps - and only 7 of them are priced at $7. The rest are higher - some as high as $14 for a 10-ounce pour. When I was writing about the $7 pint, that's exactly what I was afraid of - if $7 becomes the accepted "new normal," why would anyone stop there?

In a similar vein, I've noticed that a lot of places newly filling growlers (e.g., the Growler Station, Good Beer) have a higher baseline growler price than the old-timers (e.g., Bierkraft). Your standard craft fill (say, something ordinary from Victory) starts at $12, instead of $10, and the prices just go up from there. Worse, some of the older places (e.g., WF Bowery) have started jacking up their prices to match. On the other hand, you have the Duane Reade growler stations, which are $8.99 no matter what the beer, but that's anomalous.

I've been to Beer Authority four times already (not too hard considering I live two blocks away). So far, I love it, although they don't yet have cask beer and there are "only" 58 taps instead of the 66 and even 80 taps they mentioned before opening.

A lot of good stuff, but also plenty of lagers, ambers and things some BA'ers like myself won't care for... would like to see more Imperial Stouts on tap. Their IPA section is impressive!

I've only had their plate of deviled eggs which was OK but way too expensive at nine dollars. The short menu is mostly sandwiches and salads plus some entrees like fish and chips, beef short ribs and pastas.

They have been open for five days only and sadly their most interesting food items like pierogies, charcuterie board and chicken-liver pate are not yet available.

The owners were talking of "high-end gastropub fare" but to me it looks like expensive bar food. So I think I'll eat somewhere else, but I'm there for the beer anyways :-)

I stopped by for a quick round on my way back to NJ tonight. It's very much got a sports bar vibe, and it just happens to have 80 beers on tap. There were like ten TVs on the second floor (not necessarily a bad thing) and top 40 music blasting (definitely a bad thing). I'll probably end up stopping in every now and again seeing as I'm always coming and going through Port Authority, but that's about it.

I ate here last night food was decent. Beer list kinda sucked but I would expect that only being open for a week. If I need some good beer and decent food I would stop in here again. If I wanted to be a beer nerd I would just walk to Rattle N Hum.

Oskar Blues Ten Fidy, Ballast Sculpin IPA, Allagash Four, Dogfish 90, Founders Porter, Stone Old Guardian, Two Brothers Coffee Porter, Weyerbacher Quadruple... sure there is a lot of lighter beers on tap as well, but any list that includes these does not suck in my book!

I went on Saturday, not disappointed but a bit underwhelmed I guess. Of the 50-60 taps listed on the menu, my first five choices were all out. It's a bummer to go over a large list, make your choice and have the bartender say "no" five times in a row. I agree with the list of good beers above, but you can get all of those regularly at a lot of places in the city.

I know it's their first week, but I was really expecting a lot more. I thought maybe they'd have some "special" stuff to start off with a bang. I also thought the balance of the list was a little off, five pilsners and four kolsch but only four total Belgians? They also had a bunch of bottles (probably 40-50) behind the bar but no list, so you had to hover over the people sitting at that part of the bar to see what they have.

I'm not trying to trash talk the bar and I'll definitely go back in a month or so, I think they have great potential but are still working out a few kinks. I'm hopeful.

Here's a pic of the list from Saturday.

I agree it would be nice to see more variety, like several imperial stouts instead of only one. And they don't have a bottle list printed yet, which is annoying. But hopefully this will change soon.

I went here last night for first time, I really liked it. The second floor has a great layout, pretty wide open, lots of room to walk around and stand and plenty of tables. Big windows too so you can see out on the street.
Beer list was excellent. I had a BR Hop Rod Rye, a Sculpin and a Levitation.
Food was OK, like RnH there sliders suck. I had pierogis for first time, they were really good.
The place was pretty crowded, looks like Beer Authority is going to be a big success.

Finally made it to Beer Authority when I was in NYC last week

Overall impressions - OK, was in the upstairs level, more of a restauranty/up market sports diner feel than a pub/bar. Would have gone downstairs but there were 4 of us and it was fairly busy.

Beer list - again OK. As stated above quite a few beers/styles that held little interest as DoubleSimcoe has touched on. I had 3 beers there from Cigar City, Mad River and Two Brothers, but most I had had before (remember I'm from England so don't have daily access to 95% of US craft beers).

They had a bottled menu, but as with the taps - didn't find it that exciting or packed with any rareities

    Would I go again ?

Yes - but I'd go to the Ginger Man, Rattle'N'Hum and Blind Tiger in the first instance and probably to be inclined to try somewhere new also!
