Yeah FFF never gets out of that area... Pipeworks is tremendous as well. Lots of great stuff brewed in the area but then also just great access being so central to the country...Did Dark Lord Day this year.. Went into a Binny's liquor and the guy says their selection is down.. I left with several hundred dollars of beer... just awesome selection...

It's the same here. I can buy a mixed 6er for the price of 2 pints if i'm at a bar. I guess you're paying for ambience or whatever. This place called Barcade here is pretty cool. Lots of old arcade games and no beer under $8/pint!!

I'd sooner sit at home with my six pack some friends and some NES!!!

You won't so don't bother. You'll have to go visit your friend to get any. Or trade. But if you visit, you get to see your friend and have a beer with him or her.

Chicago does have a great situation but even still I wish we had a few more things. Our local stuff has gotten great. Besides the bloodbath that many whale releases are we don't get certain Belgian stuff. And things like Alesmith would be nice to see.

I love Victory, but Tired Hands is even closer to Philly!

Anyway, our access to great beers in Philly is probably only behind California and Vermont

The Casper WY scene is meager compared to most other areas but...and there's always a but, there are SO many brews from Wyoming that I get to explore without leaving town. And most of them are good or better. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you been to Tired Hands in Ardmore? If you haven't try to get there ASAP, best beer in PA. Also Stateline Liquors; just over the DE/MD line has amazing selection and great prices you should check it out.

Agree with the OP. Philly area has outstanding distribution from all around the country, plus local options like Troegs, Weyerbacher, Spring House, Tired Hands. I live in Downingtown so Victory is every Monday for taco night (I know, it should be taco TUESDAY). Plenty of great bars with 20+ taps, all good craft and imports. Our sports teams suck, our weather sucks, but we get good beer!

Baltimore - I would consider the selection here to be decent though I do wish we had access to Michigan beers. Luckily DC/NoVa isn't terribly far away.

Rural Connecticut is certainty not the worst, but I am pretty jealous of most of you.
I read a survey that said CT is 2nd from last in beer consumption per capita. Last place is Utah and its full of Mormons!
Archaic liquor laws here also. We were just able to buy beer on Sundays a couple of years ago.
Add to all that the fact that I live in a rural area. Still I eventually found a local place that is amazingly stocked for their location. I charm them as much as I can when I go in. They are very nice to frequent customers, sending e-mail alerts when rare or popular bottles come in. Lesson to all... make friends with your store no matter where you live.

When I'm in school up by Orange County CA the beer scene is great. During summer break tho...Maui, and Hawaii in general, is the worst (for beer that is haha)

There's a fair amount of good stuff distributed here, but the beer bar/bottle shop scene on Cape Cod is pretty lacking. It's slowly improving but still behind.
