Just wondering if anyone knows of bars that might sell bomber bottles of limited/vintage or rare beer that are meant to be drank on the premises. Kind of like wine bars/cafes except with craft beer. If anyone knows of one (doesn't matter where) please leave a link and any details about how they provide this type of service.

Falling Rock in Denver has a nice list. Just ask.

are you looking for such a bar anywhere in particular?

there are several such craft beers bars here in DC. The Meridian Pint has a drool-worthy (locked) cellar that has a glass wall so you can look in and see what's available. it's damn spendy, tho. some of these beers are listed on their website under "bottles". Churchkey and Smoke & Barrel provide similar lists.

I think you can find bars like this in many medium and large cities that are considered to be craft beer hot beds. These types of beers may not always be available, especially cellared beers, and the amount of inventory will vary during the year, or be made available only when the bar wants to run a 'fest' with these beers being offered. Tell us if you are considering a certain city and you'll probably get some bar names in return.

Holy Grale in Louisville has an extensive bottle list that includes several bombers and large beers at any given time.

I interpret OP's question as "rare and vintage", not just great bottled beers. Whales, if you will.

Falling Rock in Denver definitely has an exotic list of bottled beers, but so do my locals - Tap and Bottle, 1702 The Address. Everything is on display on their bottle fridges, so just ask for it. You can also take them off premise.

Monks Cafe in Philly has a really exciting public list, but they have a lot more rare Belgians in that cellar that are too limited in stock to print up. Run up a $200 plus tab on the listed beer bottles and you might find out what else is hiding down there! I don't think you can leave with the bottles, (Pennsylvania,....). Staff is beyond knowledgeable on their Belgians, so ask.

DBA Two in NYC used to have a rare list, not sure what the deal is now since I have not been there in a very long time.

The correct answer to this question is the Kulminator in Antwerp, Belgium. In fact, aged beer is the bar's specialty. You can go back to the 1980s with their Chimay Blue vintages.

Todd English PUB in Las Vegas- I split a Velvet Merkin and a Firestone 17 with some friends for about 40 bucks each. Not terrible prices considering it was Vegas. I've also recently seen a menu for Bardot- a classic French steakhouse at a casino in Vegas that has quite a few Cantillon bottles available, among other great offerings, though the prices are a bit more inflated

Avenue Pub in New Orleans has a great selection. I was there over MemorialmDay with my girlfriend and we split an "A Deal With the Devil." Great beer and the price wasn't terrible. Khoury's in Las Vegas has the best of both worlds. Pretty good selection and you can drink there at retail prices, order on draft, and there are always friendly craft beer drinkers willing to share.

Hay Merchant does this in Houston, and I believe Flying Saucer locations in TX do it as well.

Is this not the norm for beer bars?
