I saw an ad in the most recent zymurgy magazine for a mini keg product called the Beer Box. Looks sort of like an intermediate between and mini keg and the tap-a-draft. Here is the product information:

Has any used or seen this product in action? I looks attractive to people like myself who don't necessarily have the space or money to set up a full keg system yet.

I saw that too. I think the best advantage is the storing space and portability.

Money-wise, meh, it's comparable to some sets online (like this) and you may even be able to get set up even cheaper... but this does come with coasters and stickers! :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, if I'm not mistaken, with only one injector, you will have to carbonate one box at a time.

Would't you be carbing those with priming sugar, and then dispensing with the injector? Seems like it would take a great deal of cartridges to carb 5 gallons of beer.

Take that price and then add a another hundred for an additional fridge, since mine has food in it...

Yea their site specifically says the carb it with priming sugar similar to the TAD. The injectors are for dispensing only.

    Seems cool, but expensive.

Looks like the old dehumidifier jugs. They should include an old dehumidifier.

Even though "...its ergonomically designed handle go out the door with the hose tap adaptor and tap, you can pour fresh home brew from inside a cooler with ease" there's no fookin'way I'd pony up two hundred big ones for two plastic boxes "PLUS – 2 coasters and 2 stickers."

I'd be tempted to just throw a few oz of table sugar in there when I rack and let the yeast carb the container. Use the CO2 to help move the beer, If you even need them?

I've seen too many people do too much cool shit with paintball gear, a 2.5 gal keg, and a cylinder cooler to say yes to this get-up.

Carb with priming sugar - Oh duh, that makes more sense.

I honestly have no idea. I can carb many batches with my 5 lb. Co2 tank so I thought maybe you could actually carb with one of these cartridges. But yea, priming with sugar makes more sense and cheaper.

The thread isn't that long, but you're welcome.

Thanks for the responses. I agree that the price is pretty high, considering I can get a 2.5 gallon keg setup, very similar to the beer box set up for 150, and add an additional 90 bucks, that puts me $40 over the beer box. Plus the keg set up is upgrade-able for the future.
