http://www.beerboxer.com/ The 70$ one kind of appeals to be but I'm afraid of getting stuff I've already had or can get easily for an inflated price. Letspour has offered some great things I can't get in my distro (Parabola/Sucaba). Anyone have an comments or thoughts on this?
Personally I use Let's Pour here and there because the free shipping rocks. Only problem with them is the selection sometimes is ok. They tend to be behind sometimes. I use them to get Jai Alai a lot because no distro in my area. I would rather order as I need from them and get the tougher stuff through trade. Seems a bit pricey to me and you don't know what you're gonna get. Don't really want stuff I already had especially if it was not great or so so.
It's a decent deal if you get something new/something youve had but liked. Otherwise it starts losing its appeal. For example: On their site they have pictured a Brooklyn Local 1. I've had it and thought it was decent but wouldnt get again. If that showed up it would effectively be as if I was getting 5 bombers/750s
Do they choose your selection based on location? That would make sure you aren't paying extra for anything you can get locally
Free shipping only applies if you order at least 3 months to start, I believe. I tend to agree with Mersh, that LetsPour is best used for finding specific out-of-distro beers on an a la carte basis. I like their overall selection, but at $70, I don't know how happy I'd be getting some bombers/750s that I'd had and didn't necessarily love. And $12/750 is reasonable, but not great by any means, and $12/bomber is too much unless it's something fantastic.
no one has mentioned the $4 per 12 oz option.... that isn't bad for singles, but if you consider $50 per 12 pack, it's kinda high. but it's 0.38 per oz compared to 0.53 per oz for the bombers... if they're all 90+, and different, I would tend toward the 12 pack per month....
I agree completely. Most of the beers they show as past selections are available locally here and outside of the occasional Belgian or East Coast brew it would really not be a benefit here. Besides anything I want East Coast wise I have relatives that get it and send it to me.
While we're on the subject of Letspour, has anyone ever won more than $5 on their Spin the Wheel, or, as I suspect, is this a just little incentive to get you to place an order you might not otherwise have done because you can't bear to 'waste' five bucks?
I agree with Mersh, and would be worried they would send me a Black Butte Porter bomber that I can get locally for $2.99.
Never gotten more than $5. That being said, I will waste that $5 in a heartbeat, seeing as how $5 is a drop in the bucket compared to the fact that you're likely going to spend a minimum of $50 on the site I've said it before and I'll say it again--LetsPour is fantastic for specific situations and if you can resist the full gamut of marketing tricks that they use, but for the most part, I think their profits are driven by people paying inflated prices on the idea that shipping is included (so long as you are careful to order all your beers from one shipping location and ensure that shipping actually *is* included). If I ever win a $10+ prize from that damn wheel, I will eat my hat.
