I go to Beers of the World every payday (every 2 weeks) and spend $ 120-$140 each time. Amounts to about $ 10/day. I buy mainly cases and drink 4-6 bottles/day, every day. Go to Bars once in a while but limit it to $ 40 for food/ drinks.

I've been drinking craft beer for 10+ years and I've been pissing my wife off with the "Me Money" I spend for over 20 years...

    WHY [IMG] NOW?

You picked a bad state to move to with budgeting in mind. You should have moved to Wyoming...

If it is your only hobby, and you have the disposable income to cover most of your beer purchases, then spend what you want! You only get one life to live (no religious debate please) and you should enjoy it! You are in Colorado. One of the best beer states in the US. If you can afford the good beer, buy it. Don't limit yourself.

    Cheers!

Step one: stop going to church
Step two: start robbing liquor stores on Sundays (or whatever day your faith has you churching it)

    Your cellar will be DOPE!

It's really fun being able to go to beer bars, breweries, events, and travel together. Oh, and did I mention the DOUBLE BOTTLE LIMIT AT RELEASES  But seriously. It kills both of our wallets (we are trying to get our GABF plane tickets all last minute *sigh*). Thank god I don't believe in the whole "a guy should pay for everything" deal, otherwise, well... you know.

But drinking less doesn't mean buying less for a lot of people. My collection is always growing....

Have all of your beer be black and tans with pbr/old Rasputin. I originally meant this to be a joke, but I have unintentionally convinced myself I need to try this now

My plan has usually been to budget around beer, such as cooking my own food when my friends go out for dinner, and meet them late to grab a brew or two. I also sometimes help friends with stuff for beer, such as helping a friend make some shelves on the weekend, and then I'll sit down to split a bomber or something

Or $15 a six pack. Not exactly a bargain...

SN Stout, on the other hand, should generally be available for $8-9 a sixer, and (in my opinion, anyway) is a far better stout than Pike's.

My gameplan while I'm on tour is to spend roughly $0 a month on beer - either drink what production provides, or just not drink. But if I were home and buying bottles, $30 would be able to get me a case of locals or regionals and a sixer of something like Great Lakes. That's more than a month's worth of beer (at the rate I drink, anyway).

$2.50 to $3 a bomber for Sierra Nevada Stout...I'd buy that for sure but the Pike is not a Stout to turn up my nose at. I dug it.

I wonder if I just had an old (read: several years old) bottle. Bought it once when I lived in Texas, and the stores there were notorious for selling extremely old stock (year+ SN bottles, Shiner anniversary series that had already been replaced by the next year's version, etc). I just remember thinking "well, I guess I won't be buying this one again" when I had it.

Being a broke college student, I have a budget of about $100 bucks a week. I've been spending about $30-$50 weekly on beer lately, since I'm doing 2 trades this month. I don't go out to bars and I eat at home 80-90% of the time. 50 bucks a week sounds like alot, but you can easily spend alot more by going to the bar twice a week and eating at a denny's to sober up afterwards. $50 bucks of beer purchased at a liquor store will last me a few weeks as opposed to going to a bar and pissing away $50 bucks in a matter of days.

If you can get over all the equipment costs of homebrewing, then its well worth to homebrew. I have brewed 16 batches of 5 gallon beer at around 27 dollars a batch... thats $5.40 a gallon of beer. Thats very hard to beat.

I have tried to cut my budget for beer, but it didn't work... So I decided to cut my budget for food instead :grimacing: and that turned out to be much better

Some suggested switching to homebrew but if you haven't done it before you will spend much more than $30 just getting the equipment, after that, depending on what you enjoy drinking, $30/month for ingredients may or may do it for you.
