Atleast you got a phenomenal trade off. My local store had a 4 pack of Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye on shelf all on it's lonesome for $9.99. Being the naive connoisseur I was 2 years ago, I picked it up. It wasn't until I popped a bottle that I knew it was bad. It wreaked of nail polish remover, tasted like sludge, and looked that way too. The bottle was dated for 14 months before I bought it. They refused to replace it and told me no exchanges. Suffice it to say, I do not go to this liquor store anymore (not to mention I should've known it was bad since Bear Republic pulled out of Michigan months before I bought this beer).

I still have yet to legitimately try Hop Rod Rye ;(

Dang that sucks, Terrapin warned me that the store might not exchange it. That's how i got the shirt. But I told them if abc didn't they would have a big clean up to do.

Recently tried odell oktoberfest and was underwhelmed. Also picked up a sixer of mirror pond, one of my favorite apas that helped reintroduce me to craft. I popped the top, poured it into a shaker, sat down and took a sip of muted hops and cardboard flavors. Looked at the best by date, six months ago this may have been an ok beer. At least I have beer to boil brats in.

Taking a chance on a sixer of something, not liking it and then experiencing the guilt of watching 5 bottles of beer slowly get older and even less enjoyable.

Picked up some single bottles of a small local brewery from a (now closed) beer store in my neighborhood. Was pretty excited to try them.

They were so undrinkable, it turns out they were sample hand filled bottles that the brewery or distributor had dropped off a sales meeting or something. They must have been sitting in a back room for at least 6 month, somehow made it onto the shelves.

Thankfully the place is shut down, bad practices like that are uncool... but now I have no beer shops in my neighborhood :slight_frown:

Getting a beer in the mail with a leaky crown is a pretty big bummer.

Initially happened to my Grandfather when he came to visit us from Quebec... He picked up a 12 pack of a Quidi Vidi Honey Brown, a local beer, by both handles only to have the bottom fall out when we left the store. Least it wasn't anything too good....

Having the cord the Xbox take out your Tweak after only two sips... Then considering cutting a square out of the carpet and wringing into my mouth..
