Went to Portland a couple years ago strictly for the breweries and got so much more out of it. Of course we hit a bunch of breweries in Portland, but we also rented a car and headed west. Drove through the gorgeous forests and mountains to Tillamook then headed down the coast. Beautiful rocky coasts with caves, beaches, woods right up against the water, just spectacular. Then we cut inland and drove to Bend. Spent a night there, then headed back (a different route) to Portland. We stopped at Silver Falls (beautiful hiking and waterfalls and the like), then finished for a last night in Portland. Will never forget that trip.

If its your first trip, do Northern California/Oregon or Colorado. It depends on who you go with.

If you're taking a lady friend who likes long, moonlit walks through a misty vineyard, go nor cal/ore. If you're going with dudes who want to hit four breweries in a day followed up by a ball game and post game beer bar, go Colorado. Both have great outdoor options (camping, rafting, etc), but Denver has better golf, sports, and nightlife. If its a lady who thinks both options sound great, I suggest proposing on the spot.

I have a Bay Area Beercation/Giants Series planned this summer. I like the way you think.

Just got back from Portland Oregon. Borrowed my buddies bike while he was at work and I was able to hit up 10+ bars, breweries, shops in 2 days. Just threw a hiking pack on my back and picked up beers that I wanted to bring home. Great couple of days. Then went to Mt Hood for some beautiful skiing during the weekend. Excellent beercation.

I've traveled for beer three times...to New England, Colorado and Oregon. Honestly, almost any city can provide at least a few days of quality beer-cation time. My favorite beer-cation was Denver/Fort Collins/Boulder/Colorado Springs because I sampled so many awesome beers, visited so many awesome bars/brewpubs/breweries and also got some culture from the cities I visited which was nice...it was more well-rounded than Portland/Corvallis/Hood River where I drank almost 200 samples of beer and well...nothing else really, mostly because it rained the entire week. Weather was definitely nicer in CO. The only city I've ever visited that really sucks for beer was Las Vegas...but then, who cares...it's Vegas. My husband and I are going on another mini New England beer-cation next month...hoping to visit Ebenezer's again. Obviously Belgium would probably be the ultimate beer-cation but that's a pricey trip.

Yes, I actually try to promote an area that have great breweries. Denver's surrounding areas..... wife is there this week but I did not go this time. Last April went to Maryland by way of Dogfish Head's brewery and their pub in Delaware. San Diego trip prior, also good to hit Stone and others.

    I found the link: http://www.braugasthoefe.de/en/online-reservation
Go to ZIP CODE SUMMARY and click on each one to see what they offer and get an idea of the prices. The more you pay the less likely you are to have a room on a busy street. It may not seem like a big deal but we were at Faessla in Bamberg (with a room on the street) when Bamburg beat Frankfurt-the horns honking and the screaming all night was pretty awful.
