Always a lot going on in my beer fridge so it's usually a spontaneous choice.

I have anywhere from 4 to 8 beers in my fridge at any one time. I usually put them in there as part of a queue, so I put another beer or two in every night after having the beers I put in two nights ago. Anytime I have more than 8, it's usually some IPAs that are buried at the back of the fridge.

I usually put a bomber in the night before I plan on drinking it, because usually we don't have the space to store it upright.

So, it's usually pretty well planned. At this point, it usually involves one new, and one revisit per night. On Wednesday's, I usually have an extra beer during Always Sunny

It's a mystery to me, every day it's something different. Some days I crave a certain style or beer and have to have one. Some days I open the fridge and grab whatever. Some days I purposely mix things up, if I'd had several IPA's in a row I may grab a stout, etc. My favorite method for picking a beer is to use my random number generator app on my phone, It selects a number from 1-64 at random and I grab that number beer from my cellar (My cellar is a converted chest freezer at 50 degrees that holds 8 rows of 8 12 oz bottles, plus 12 bombers). I love the randomness and surprise.

In my case, I hope to find one Poisoned.

Most of the time I've at least been THINKING about it during the day. If it's a beer I've been waiting to try and review, then it's a very conscious choice. Otherwise, as you suggested, I keep a pretty wide selection on hand depending on what I'm feeling and I'm free to make a spur of the moment choice.

I will say that's a pretty common occurrence for me to sit on my haunches staring into my fridge for a good two minutes on end as I try to decide!

Most of the time I buy I'm thinking about a particular beer or style. However, sometimes I do drink spontaneously and sometimes I feel like having something from the cellar.

Sounds about right haha. If it's a real tough choice between two beers, I'll just quickly grab one and open it thinking "it's done, it's opened".

Kinda depends on how busy I was before going to the fridge. Busy day = grab anything. Non-busy day: think about it, strategize about it, plan and re-plan about it.

I'm still fairly new to the beer game, so I buy a lot of singles and the occasional 6 or 12 pack of something I like. Singles either go in the fridge (in that drawer your vegetables are supposed to go in...who needs vegetables?) or in my "cellar" (a box in my storage room) depending on what they are. I usually try to keep a couple of whatever 6/12 packs I have in the fridge at any given time too. So all the different kinds of beer I have on hand are cold and "available" at any given time.

Sometimes I try to pick based on a meal. Like if I know I'm going to make a pot roast for dinner, I might pair it with a stout. Other times I call my boyfriend ahead of time and say "I'll be home in 5 minutes, pull out a surprise beer" and I'll just drink whatever he picks for me. And other times I might look around at the multiple boxes of beer and think to myself "Shit, I still have like 10 Sierra Nevada Pale Ales" and I'll drink a couple of those to make myself feel better about hoarding so much.

I use ListPickle, a randomizer app for my phone. I never know exactly what I'm drinking next. I make multiple entries for IPA's so they don't age. Obviously if I've had a few I won't crack a 750 ml of something 10% or above, but otherwise it's a dorky amusement to set what pops up next!

Sounds like we have similar strategies!

I do think about it in terms of what I want to get done in my kitchen that day and what I am planning for meals. I always start or end with a pilsner. My other beer ( I usually stick to two) can be anything with no limit on style. I try to save the heavier stuff for the weekend. So I won't usually have a stout on a Monday afternoon but I will on Sunday Morning.
