OK, don't be a hater because of this question. I want to give a "beer" gift to an acquaintance who has done some very nice favors for me and who has saved me a ton of money. I don't know him well but do know that he likes Craft Beers. So I was thinking... I wonder if there is anything like the "Bacon of the Month Club", but for Craft Beer. Does anyone know of any and is it worth it? I don't know the acquaintance well enough to select beer on his behalf and thought this might be something fun. ... Just askin' Thanks!

How much are you willing to spend? I see you're in Cali, The Bruery preservation society would be a very nice gift!

Thanks for that info. They are actually in the same county. I'll check it out.

I sent my dad bacon of the month. He loved it.

The Rare Beer club is good. I have been a member for 2 years. It runs about $60 a month and you get 4 bombers.

Thank you Sammy, I will check that out. So what is a "bomber"?

    A bomber is typically a 22oz bottle.

I agree with Sammy, the Rare Beer Club is about the only one I've found that's really worth it. Plus, after the initial gift membership expires, they have the option to stay on as a month-to-month member. That means they'll get a newsletter with the next month's bottles ahead of time and can decide what to do (i.e. skip that month and not be charged, take their allotment, swap out bottles). It's worth hanging onto just in case something really nice shows up. That's what I've been doing for the past few years.

I got beer of the month clubs a couple times from my wife. I strongly encourage you to go with the club that gives bombers (22oz) and not the 12oz club. For the 12oz club, they give you 3 different varieties from 2 different breweries. While it is a larger volume of beer, the quality is much lower. I ended up with bottles of different stuff that sat around for months because I didnt like it. Go with the quality bombers over quantity. This way they get to try more different beers and if they dont like it, they can choke down one bottle rather than worrying about having to try to get through more bottles.

+1 for the Rare Beer Club...best thing about it is that if you don't like the beers offered that month, just pass and you will incur no charges. If you really like the beers offered, order more that month.

Okay guys, thank you so very much. I am going to go with the Rare BOTMC as this seems to be very popular and I think it will be a little extra special gift. Now on to my next question. I want to include just two very nice beer glasses (ok, maybe four). I mean nice, not cheapo, NICE. I'm pretty sure that this person has some already since he is a craft beer enthusiast but my nephew wants to make glasses his contribution (but I'm paying of course!). A good quality glass is required. So far I am finding a lot about the importance of a good glass and it is a bit daunting So, what would be your suggestion if you had to guess (since of course, that is exactly what you are doing!) Doh!. I sure appreciate the help! Thank you.

If he likes IPAs, DFH and Sierra Nevada have an IPA glass that is pretty cool.
