Kinda like book clubs? Anyone ever done this? I'm thinking once a month, rotating houses, host picks a style, everyone brings a bomber or something of that style to share. Great way to try new styles and breweries, make new beer buddies, etc.

If you mean local tasting groups, there are lots of them. You might just find yours with this post.
    Good luck!

We started one about 3 years ago. We meet monthly.

If anyone in southeastern Wisconsin is in a beer club that has room for another member, please let me know.

Our small home brew club is more of a tasting club. We start with whatever home brew people bring, then move on to what the selected style of the month is. We are South of Boston if any fellow Massholes are interested, send me a PM.

Tasting groups are awesome. We are on our fifth meeting (once monthly) and I have met some awesome people and tried some fantastic beers I otherwise wouldn't have been able to. If you aren't in a group, find one, if you can't find one, start one.

I've been to a couple meetings of one club here in NC and I really enjoyed it. Lots of guest speakers from breweries, tours of breweries, great way to exchange beers, and overall a pretty good time.

    Where about in NC?
Sounds like a great idea! Don't know why I hadn't thought of it before.

The name of the club is "CARBOY", and I was mistaken when I said a couple of meetings, only been to one. They meet in the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area of NC, and I think they travel too. Here is their website: http://carboyclub.com/about/

If you like ticking a bunch of beers at 2oz a piece, rather than savoring a full pour, then tasting groups are great.

I have a Scotch group, 5 years plus strong, once a month, host buys, no repeat bottles. It's a lot of fun, I think a beer one would be even better. Make sure everyone has enough of the same beer to thoroughly enjoy the one or two beers, not just samples.

This is kind of a pessimistic attitude. I can't speak for others but I would rather have 2oz of a beer I would otherwise never have a chance to try than 0oz.

I wrote an article about starting a smaller-sized one (10 peeps or so). I don't want to "spam" but if you want to read it you can PM me

Tastings, bottleshares, etc. are my jam. Especially since I found a great group of dudes and dudettes who tolerate my ticking frenzies.
