I saved a few bomber bottles for pendant lights to put over my bar. I'm a professor, however, and since school just started it might be next summer before I have the chance to get finish the project. Also saving six pack boxes for a new shelving unit for the beer cellar. Again, it'll probably be next summer before I can get around to it.

Just lost two minutes reading this thread looking for the punch line. Were you looking for something interesting like, "I throw the empty bombers at the neighbor's kids"? Jeez man.

Why does every thread have to turn into a nickelback bashing thread? If you don't like the band, just don't listen to them and let them enjoy their success.

When you have too many, you sell them. Easy way to cut bottles--so the story goes--is using nail polish remover (or similar bulk solvent), yarn, matches and a bucket of ice water. If you feel really adventurous, laminate the labels (epoxy, actually, not laminate) and pour hops-scented candles in. Once you get the knack of it, you can sell them at craft shows.

What is your method for striping the label off the bottles?

If you do a search in the Brewerania forum you'll find various discussions on this topic. Basically the labels fall into three categories that each require a different approach: (1.) soaking in hot water; (2.) soaking in hot water with baking soda or Oxyclean; or (3.) heating the bottle to soften the glue so that the label peels off.

There is a fourth category too: impossible.

I throw most things out the door into the yard. This is West Virginia after all. I thought it odd when I first moved here but it seems to be what most people do.
When drinking and driving I just throw them out the window.

That does sound sort of nice, especially the hop candle part, but honestly, I think I'd rather buy one than make one these days.

I was more or less just jesting about how many empties I recycle a month. Thankfully for me, all I have to do is take them to the curb twice a month. When I lived in NY, it was always a pain to deal with collecting and returning them for the deposit- this way is much nicer.

But the satisfaction of that $30 is worth at least $60.
