I watched two cool episodes yesterday on youtube and I was amazed by both of the breweries Greg Zeschuk visited. I watched the Jester King episodes and there location blew me away, what an amazing facility its a must that I go visit. I also watched the Twisted X episodes and the brewers there demonstrated such a friendly welcoming attitude it made me want to go and check them out up in Cedar Park. I believe Greg Zeschuk is doing an amazing job interviewing these amazing brewers and is also creating awareness of all the great breweries we have in Austin. Future looks very bright for micro breweries here in Texas, I hope my brewery will be next in line, plans are in the works.
He's doing shows now ala "three sheets," going to different countries and drinking their beer. It's gonna be awesome.
That's an offshoot project that his director for the series is doing. Looks cool as fuck. The main series (with Greg) is going to Colorado next with Denver-area breweries. He's already been filming. He's Canadian, so I'm kinda hoping he tackles Canada next, since I've only had a handful of breweries from up there.
Hey guys - thanks for the kind comments. I'm GregZ from The Beer Diaries. I use DoktorZee for much of my online stuff. So a few comments: - not long ago we'd finished filming in Austin as we'd interviewed practically everyone, until more places started opening! We've actually got a number of Austin Brewpub interviews that we're finishing and going to post before too long - we're already done filming 12 breweries in Colorado - had a great time there and managed to hit most of the biggies! - The World Tour show is done by Mike Mann, the director of all of the Beer Diaries shows. As you can see from the trailer Mike travels around visiting very cool locations - We've got another show that we haven't revealed yet; it's a little trickier to make, but it is turning out pretty well. We'll probably do a trailer for it in the next couple months. That's about it. We're having fun doing the shows and are getting to try some amazing beers. greg
Wow didnt expect Greg personally to respond to this post that cool! Greg thanks for doing these cool interviews and for promoting the art of craft brewing. Great job! Hope i can invite you to my own brewery by next year here in Austin.
Happily enough I've got a Google Alert on my name and The Beer Diaries - I try and follow up all the links, and since this is practically the ultimate beer site I already had an account so could respond... I'm always open to visit breweries... greg
Hey Greg. I really enjoy your shows. The production is top-notch and TV-worthy. It would be great to see you guys get picked up by a cable channel or even better something like netflix... because I don't have cable! Anyway, keep up the good work..cheers!
Yeah - we shot with Chip a while back. We want to do another premier (likely in the fall) and want to get a few more episodes done in Austin to pair with his episode so we can do another Alamo Drafthouse premier.
Greg, It would be cool if you came back in July/August when ABGB opens and speak to Brian Peters and Amos Lowe. Brian, in particular, is pretty much the godfather of Austin craft beer going back to Bitter End and helping start Live Oak Brewing (might play off Chip's interview well). Is also like to see ya speak with Joe Mohrfeld at Pinthouse Pizza... who is arguably running the best brewpub in Austin right now. He also comes from Odell, which could play into the Colorado series.
