In a fit of procrastination I decided to parse my beer drinking notes and plot how many beers I'd had by date since I starting recording in February. It looks like this. The 'number of beers' doesn't count volume, only discrete units. So, e.g., a growler counts as '1 beer', as does a 4oz sample. But two bottles of the same beer would be 2 beers. Anyway, I wonder if anyone else has done this. I'd love to see other peoples'. If I had guessed beforehand, I'd have thought it was more uniform by date, and I'd also have thought the average was lower. Similarly, I'd have thought there were fewer '0 beers' days in the distribution of number of beers. (edit: and that there were fewer 3&4-beer days)
I keep track of unique beers I drink and track them, but not specific days in which I drank them. I see quite a few spikes at 8 beers. Were these bottle shares?
Haha, good idea. Actually I've never finished a growler on my own, but I think some people on here do that... Some, and some were meeting a new brewer, etc. But yeah, I thought it was strange, I don't know why 8 is the magic number---I don't do bottle shares in units of 8. Looking at it again, though, the frequency is the same as 5 and 6, so maybe it doesn't mean much.
