Back when Duvel came in the green Champagne-style 750ml bottles that would always happen...no matter how long you let the bottle rest, no matter how gingerly you'd remove the cage & cork. Always a gusher.

I've had this happen one time with a De Garde. It, quite literally, looked like a Diet Coke & Mentos experiment. It shot up and foamed all over my table and floor. I easily lost at least 2/3 of the bottle. Sad, because it was an amazing beer too.

I have only had this happen to me with Unibroue beers or home brews. Simply a matter of over carbination. Best response is to get some of it out of the bottle and into a glass. Preferably an oversized glass because the head will be enormous. That gives enough room in the bottle for it to settle down, and then you can let the head dissipate just a bit to drink it. I always have my glass at the ready when I am opening my home brew. I don't drink as much Unibrow as I used to, but I would have the glass ready to pour with one if I happened to be drinking it.
