Went to a beer fest today, we all got little 3oz mugs to get our samples with. But there wasn't a way to clean your sampling mug for the next sample. What does everyone else do? I ended up getting a handful of napkins and just wiping it out after every sample.

Every beer fest I've been to has had pitchers sitting 'round so you can rinse your glass out in between beers. Seems to me like it should be common practice..

When in doubt about whether rinse water will be available at a fest, bring a bottle or two of water with you. Swirl your glass and drink it. Don't waste the water because you need to stay hydrated.

I've seen used glasses rinsed out with a little bit of the next beer swirled and dumped but it's a little heart breaking

If the fest is providing free water, yes it to rince out the glass. If not, don't be a cheap-scate, spend a few bucks and buy ask me bottles of water. Rince out your glass and match the beer consumption with the same amount of water to stall inebriation,". You'll have a better team me at the festival, and your head and liver will thank you!

Good fests will provide water stations. Some breweries will also keep pitchers of water at their booth as well. If in doubt, bring your own bottle.

I bring my own water but like others have said any good fest should have multiple water stations and pitchers at most of the tables to rinse out your glass and/or keep hydrated. By far the best tip I've gotten from other BA's is to at least drink the rinse water if not more.

I have seen this quite a bit too. Surprisingly. I am not sure whether to kiss or punch the guy.

The ones I have been to either the vendors have water for a rinse or there are rinse stations around to do this. The one time I went to one that did not, I simply used the bottled water I purchased there to rinse the sampler then drank it so as not to waste the water. We try not to waste any water here in the desert....a very precious commodity!

Poured 4oz samplers yesterday at 'Fresh to Death'
& we have a jug of water at every station to give the glass a rinse
before pouring the next requested beer , good beer karma :grinning:

I've seen the water stations, pitchers of water, people bringing their own bottles to rinse etc.
Me, I go to the next sample and reuse, I really can't see and or taste a huge difference as long as I stay with similar styles. I bring my own water to drink but never rinse the glass, I'll mix the beer, the water needs to be clean.
Last tasting I went to provided 8oz glasses and the brewers filled them at each station, didn't see many people rinsing at the stations. I did see plenty of people that were slightly over served, like everyone

I usually just rinse with different beer. You're pallett is toast after an hour anyway.
