I've brewed weizenbocks in the past around this time that are ready come thanksgiving. Always makes for a good colder weather beer. Using a bit of smoked malt is always a nice addition too

As is any beverage with some acidity to it. That said, I don't know about you, but I find it MUCH more difficult to finish a 750 of sour (not tart) beer than I do finishing a 750 of wine. The acid profiles are simply different.

I'll post it in the recipes section before too long, and then provide a link from this thread. It's a recipe I've tweaked over many years; brewed it about 13 times or so. My house beer, more or less.

I would go with a high carb Belgian Golden or Belgian Dark, if Dark, then subtle spicing. Brown Ale sounds good too. I always crack open a Trader Joe's Vintage Ale for Thanksgiving.

Good call. La Terrible used to be a Thanksgiving staple.

You don't need a beer suggestion...you need a lawyer :grimacing: Seriously, maybe you could take this on as a crazy uncle rant at Thanksgiving...and tenderly offer up a Session IPA /PA that is not too offensive...somebody has to be the Black Sheep in the family. Cheers

Biere de Garde would be my vote.

I love the brown ale comments. This style gets a bad rap by beer snobs, but a well made brown ale is great. It's a style that strangles the boarder, so you can go hoppy or malty.

Just to add diversity, I'll say Vienna or Munich Lager.

That conjures up some images if you have a roommate :grimacing:...seriously, Alaskan Heritage Coffee Brown was great this afternoon...might have to try a quasi-clone,. Cheers

A clone of Domaine DuPage was on my short list. Pilsen, Munich, Vienna, Caramunich, Carawheat, and Melanoidin. The boss likes the original.

Right with you on the Porter...I brewed 10 gallons of the stuff yesterday, OG 1.065, Deep, ruby red color, and 45 IBUs. (And at least some of it will no doubt find it's way into 2018's Xmas Solera Stock Old Ale).
