Picked up a bottle of Allagash Fluxus 2012 the other day. Any idea how long this'll last in a sealed bottle? Found a bottle of it at a shop by me and picked it up because the idea of green and pink peppercorns really intrigued me, but based on it being last year's brew, I'm not sure how "fresh" it will be. Any help as to understand how long a beer is good for, based on type, in sealed bottles, is extremely helpful.

It should be fine as long as the liquor store has been storing it correctly. The biggest concern with aging beer is in IPAs because the hops diminish over time. Probably not a factor in your case.

Beer doesn't go bad, or expire. It is obviously not fresh, as that is kind of a relative term to how recent it was brewed / bottled. Different styles hold up over time more than others. For the most part, any flavor additions (coffee, chocolate, coconut, spices, fruit, etc) will fade over time. It is really a matter of trial and error as to whether a beer improves or not from its fresh state (most dont).

Bottom line, your beer is fine, it wont hurt you....drink up
