    Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a decent size beer fridge for home, glass door, holds 30-50 standing bottles from 350 to 750ml, temp control (standard). Must have a furniture look or can be built-in an existing or new piece of furniture.

I'm posting this here with hopes that you can recommend a Montreal retailler. Links are always welcome.

    BA, you wisdom is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I've seen a few on Kijiji if you don't mind secondhand. Other than that, maybe Brault & Martineau? I use the cold room in my basement.

When you say "temp control (standard)" what range are you wanting? I know that wine fridges some with the proper range but are geared toward horizontal storage

@papat444: will take a look, thanks

@StarRaptor: I'm not looking at a complex temp control system but a system that can be adjusted if need be like a normal fridge would. If it does look like a modern wine fridge, that's good but like you said, you mostly need to store your bottle horizontally. thanks

I use a wine fridge that is temp controlled. I bought one that allowed me to remove the wine rack shelves and replace them with standard shelves. It is bar fridge size and has french doors with dual cliimate controls on either side. It is in to my kitchen and I wanted it to match my stainless appliances, so it is fairly expensive for what it is. If this sounds like what you are looking for let me know and I can find a link to it on line.

Yup, that's pretty much what i'm looking for. Where did you buy yours? A link would be good if you can find one.

    I appreciate the help.
    Thanks

I'm not sure where you live, but I bought it at a regular appliance store that is all over the Greater Toronto Area. There is another version of the fridge that is a single door, single climate controlled model that is slightly cheaper with slightly more capacity. I went with that one in part because it looks nicer, but more so because I like to keep my stouts/porters/etc at a higher temperature than my IPAs and other beers. This gives me that flexibility.

I highly recommend this fridge if it fits in to your budget.

If you would like I can dig up some pictures at home later with the fridge full of beer so you can get an idea what the beer capacity is. Let me know.

Man this is exactly what im looking for. Best part is that it's distributed all over the place. Thanks a lot. The idea of keeping stouts and porters seperate is great. I also like my IPA and weizen cooler. I'll go with the 2 doors model as well and go all McGuyver on the shelves to get the best ratio of 350/500/750ml. So it seems i'll be shopping this weekend!

    Pics would be awesome.
    Thanks a bunch

That is ridiculous! I would love one of those. Very pricey though.

Here is mine with beer in it.

    Questions

Is there a light that turns on whe you open the door?
It looks like that you can't put 3 bottles per row (bottom rows) without them being offset a little bit. Is that accurate?

    Thanks

You can fit 3 x 6 12 oz bottles per shelf. The right side of the fridge has 18 bottles on the middle shelf. On the base of the fridge (the bottom where you see the red racer) you can only fit 5 per row x 3 rows because the cooling mechanism is there (on both sides). If you fill a shelf completely with bombers (like the left side in the picture) you can't quite fit 3 rows side-by-side. You can get 4 bombers in a row x 2 on the bottom and probably 5 bombers in a row x 2 on a shelf with a little bit of room in between the 2 rows to fit a couple of cans or 12 oz bottles.

There is a light inside (on each side). It is a blue light and isn't all that bright. I keep them off.

Looks like this is what I need too. What is the price of such a beast? Another concern is energy comsumption. My last old fridge was an energy hog, and I don't want to pay a fortune just to keep a lot of beer cold. How do you find the hydro factor?
