Just moved into a new apartment and with funds from the old security deposit I want to buy a compact beer fridge so I can stop hiding everything in the linen closet. Anybody have any insight on where to look for/buy one? Seems like most appliance stores and other online searches come up with mostly wine coolers, industrial-sized display fridges, or fridges that would only fit cans or a handful of bottles. I'm really interested in a glass door fridge as to avoid the college dorm look you get with the usual compact fridge.
Just got this guy a week ago to replace an older fridge and am pretty happy so far....with some dial tweaking I got it set right at 55 degrees. Took a few shelves out and fit 21 750 ml's and 5 375 ml's in it all standing. why would you abuse your beer like that? the biggest enemy of beer is light. I will gladly give up glitz for looking after my beer properly.
See what turns up on Craigslist. That said, I have a Danby wine fridge (glass is tinted). I pulled out one shelf and can standup 15 large format bottles and then I used three shelves for corked lambic, although you could opt to pull out two more shelves and fit another 15 or so large format bottles.
