It would take the same amount of time to reach into your pocket and pull out your opener as it does to reach in and grab a lighter. Plus, the majority of folks aren't smokers, thus don't carry a lighter. I'm a big believer in using the right tool for the job. Would you trust your car to a mechanic who uses a crescent wrench when he's got a 9/16 at hand?

How about some imagination, if you don´t have a cooler, just throw some ice cubes in a bucket and you´re good to go. :/

I think proper glassware is what you need.

I can't remember the last time I needed a corkscrew for a beer. Don't drink much from Europe but I can only think of a few breweries who use a submerged cork vs C&C. So my list of necessities is glassware, an opener, and a growler; everything else can be improvised. Having multiples of each is convenient but not necessary.

I do this frequently. We have a ton of plastic buckets at work. I'm going to a cook-out or bottle share, I throw the beer in, load it up with ice, and done. Plus, folks can always use an extra bucket around the house, so I just leave 'em there.

I keep telling you @beertunes , I appreciate the beer, but I've got enough of your buckets.

Just make sure your bucket don't have a hole in it, or you can't buy no beer.

The Motor City Madman, Ted Nugrent, summed up the "beer nescesities" best when he sang, "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine." Any bottle of beer shared with good friends is a good bottle of beer.

Coolers have been mentioned, but I think ice is a hassle so I recommend those refreezable packs - at least 6 to go into your coolers.

A suitcase cooler with rollers (12pk at least), a reusable (sturdy) 6pk carrier, keychain bottle opener, Grand Snifter, Tulip, Noic pint glass, QR notes on usual breweries bottling date codes, If you don't have a cellar a big deep cooler with 8 medium re-freezable freeze packs to switch out, and some table water crackers, at least a local growler if not some from out of state (I have 5 and counting) and a sub to BeerAdvocate magazine :grinning:.

Edit: I will also reemphasize money. Have a budget with some expendable income and stick to it, this is a rabbit hole folks! lol

so people that collect caps should just bend the shit out of them with a traditional opener because it's the right tool for the "job"???

Knowing how to use one's tool is an important life skill. Clearly you're like my friend Chuck, you just like doing that way. Cool. If someone is that worried about not bending the caps, they go full nerd, and get one of the fancy openers like my friend Justin has, and that pull the caps straight off without bending them. I don't collect caps, so I don't care if they do get bent, but most of them don't.

I'd rather buy an unfancy bic lighter for a dollar that does the same thing and can be used for multiple tasks. It's fire at your fingertips which can be a life saver in certain situations

You should see what I have in my pockets as EDC items. If I get out of town to go hiking, I add my Zippo, but I can start a fire just fine with what I have in my pockets.

my neighbors use a blow torch and used motor oil. Those are definitely the wrong tools for the job
