Not all necessities, but things I like to have include:

    - Proper glassware
    - Keychain bottle opener
    - My Ikea lockers for cellaring
    - A Costco box with handles to bring back my empties
    - People I love to enjoy it with

"Dry county" is the most horrid two-word combination in the English language.

An open mind to trying new experiences. I won't lie, there's been a few beers that elicited the "ehhh, I dunno" response upon pouring and taking a whiff. But, a few sips later & I'd changed my mind. Up-tempo music helps keep the energy going, also. Genre doesn't matter, we all have our personal preferences.

Interesting question. I'm not a beer nerd expert but I have 2 coolers for outdoor activities. A spare fridge covered in all the necessary mancave required stickers. I have about 40 different styles and size of beer glassware to ensure im always drinking a particular style from its correlating glassware and I have a home brew kit for dabbling in the art of beer making. In saying that, I don't think there's any requirements on beer nerd paraphernalia. Just enjoy drinking your beer and everyone else can go blow themselves. lol

I think a "good opener" to a lot of beer geeks is one that won't bend the cap.
