Last night I cracked opened a 2009 Cygnus X-1 Porter. I didn't really mean to age it for so long but it fell through the cracks. I was concerned it may not have aged well since the abv is only around 6.5% but that was not the case. Unfortunately this beer shot out like a geyser and covered everything in a 3 foot radius. Very little was left in the bottle afterwards and what a shame...it was delicious. I'm assuming a porter that tastes like a sour brown was likely infected but on the off chance that this tasty accident can be recreated...I'd gladly seek out and cellar a few more bottles of this brew. I'd appreciate some opinions on whether this was a batch specific thing or something that would happen just by aging this beer for long periods of time. Thanks!
I think it would be best to contact the brewer(y) direct and explain the situation. Two years on a 6.5% beer shouldn't do this.
