What do you guys do when you go out of town, for glassware? Bring one? Buy one at the bottle shop you stop at? Use a regular glass? Or drink from the bottle?

Usually the hotels have a small glass tumbler or two for water near the ice bucket. It gets the job done.

I ask the hotel bar for a pint glass.

I ALWAYS travel with extra pint glasses. Drinking out of the bottle/can or out of a hotel room plastic cup just isn't the same.

buy a tulip when you get there. Probably at the bottle shop where you go to get your vacation stash of local brews. Truth be told, I have taken my own, only to find the stem broken off when I arrived. Trip #1....bottle shop for bottles and a new glass.

I bring my traveling proper beer glass case. It comes equipped with a tulip, shaker, tonic, snifter, and plastic cup, just in case I am slumming it with an AAL.

This came in handy one time when I was traveling and found a local bottle shop carrying double sunshine. I knew the beer would be past its prime by the time I reached home in 3 days. Luckily I was able to go back to my hotel and pour it into the proper glassware. I have to say that was one close call!!!

Once, I drank some Blind Pig out of a plastic hotel cup..... It still tasted ok. But not ideal.

I use the small glass tumbler in the hotel room. It gets things done. Hotel doesn't always have bar to borrow glass from.

I've never gone the plastic cup route, but I've used the glass tumblers in a hotel room. I don't travel with any glassware.

Any cup will do... but my least favorite are those Styrofoam coffee cups in hotel rooms.

If I'm staying at a hotel, then 95% of any drinking is going to be at bars/restaurants. But if I do drink in the room, most of the time they have wine glasses in the room that you can use.

    Airbnb / self-catering: Wine glass>pint glass>tumbler>whatever they have

    Depends on the travel:

Business - I'm normally hoping to haul something back home so I don't carry anything extra in the suitcase and typically use the hotel glassware - either from the room or sometimes I ask the bar for a glass.

Vacation - (coming up soon BTW) At least for the last few years I take this as an opportunity to buy something new. We're going to the beach so if nothing I want at the bottle shop then I just use the nicest glass in the house (wine or other).

I've used plastic plenty and I'm sure I'll do it again.

When I was in the guard, I'd have to stay at Andrews AFB (or right outside the gate) monthly, so I got into the habit of taking a glass coffee mug with me. It was sturdy, cheap and was the best all around single glass that could accommodate most styles. Now I just forget to take it when I go out of town and have enjoyed some great beers out of cheap, flimsy plastic cups.

When I travel for vacation I always try to stop at a close brewery to grab some beers for the trip and also a glass. Last time I was in Florida I went to Cycle, stocked up on some fresh brews, and snagged a glass which was like 3 or 5 bucks if I remember. I was depressed because they ran out of Rare Dos an hour before I got there lol :slight_frown:
