    That was an interesting read..thanks.

If I'm "typical", I'm glad I don't get served beers in curved glasses at the places I go to.
    At home, that's another thing...

It doesn't say whether the glasses curve in or out in the study, does it? I would think personally that I would drink slower from a goblet/globe/snifter than I would from a concave style glass.

Can't say the style of the glass effects the pace of my drinking, ABV sure as hell does though. Can't quaff Resin like you can a Brooklyn Lager of Long Trail IPA, well at least not without feeling guilty.

Beer style is the difference, I DRINK an IPA from tulip glass, I sip a stout.

What about from a funnel like object or when you poke a hole in the bottom of a can? I didnt see anything about seconds being measured?

    Cheers!

Of course style matters. But without reading the article (I know, I don't have time) I would guess part of the control of the study was to use the same beer in different glasses. So that you would drink a stout faster out of glass A than glass B. Making your point moot at best, superfluous at worst.

Yeah. I usually hit turbo when I drink out of the 3.5 pint Das Beer Boot.

The study doesn't tell us much, at least from what was reported in the article. 159 people split between soft drink and beer drinkers. There was no effect on soft drink consumption - shape did not make a difference. This was a relatively small pour - only 8 ounces. There was no mention of beer style. Perhaps the curved glass helped retain flavor and increased/improved consumption.

This is really great. [sarcasm intended] Something else to consider when I'm trying to actually enjoy a beer. When will I learn not to read these posts.

This "study" is completely flawed from a scientific standpoint. They gave two different groups two different glasses. This proves nothing. They should have tested one group with two different glasses.

Take it easy man, nowhere it is said that they conclusively prove something. From the article:
They're using words like "appears" and "may". I don't think they're wrong.

I don't like shaker pints. I'd prefer and old fashioned Pilsner glass for lighter stuff, and I could easily do any IPA and any Stout/Porter is a half tulip kinda glass. My favorite glass is actually $3 red wine glass I bought at a yard sale, it's perfect for Stouts, and works equally well for IPA's.
