    Hello my fellow BA'ers.

    I got a question.

Many people i know do wash their beer glasses with cleanser, i am also one of them.

But then i heard from other people, that they are against it.

    So, what's better??

I hope you guys can help out.

PS: Sorry for my bad english.

Regular dishwashing detergent for washing by hand should be fine so long as you take care to use a thorough hot water rinse.

But you don't want to do it in a dishwasher since some detergents for that use are going to leave a residue and the dishwasher often many not fully rinse the inside of the glass well enough to remove any residue of the beer.

I've seen some recommend scrubbing with salt (a la scouring powder) but never found that particularly necessary.

That is exactly what I do. I hand wash using the 'free and clear' unscented dish liquid and ensure the glass is well rinsed with hot water before drying.

Yep, the unscented soap hand wash with hot water does the trick for me - clean, with no residual taste/aroma/appearance.

I hand wash with regular dish detergent. I have a friend who uses the dishwasher and gives an extra hand rinse to remove the residue. This also seems to work.

I, too, use mild dishwashing liquid & wash by hand only. Although I typically only use the soap on the inside of the glass, I do a super hot water rinse/scrub on the outside to try & prolong the life of any logos/graphics that the glass may have.
I've bought too many Ommegang glasses secondhand that had all the gold-colored images washed off completely. :-)

Drink from the can/bottle, then you don't have to worry about glassware.

Seriously, though, I just use a little soap and hand wash. The rinse is the most important step.

Seems like the general consensus is hand wash with hot water. I tried rinsing only with hot water, but I get much better lacing when I wash with soap.

Handwashing with hot water and unscented, grease-cutting detergent, and letting them air dry, should do the trick.

Experimenting in my kitchen using no scientific discipline whatsoever I determined how the glasses are washed are less important than how well they're rinsed.

I attempt to keep all beer, wine glasses as clean as possible by rinsing as soon as possible after use. If it started clean and gets rinsed immediately the most it will ever need is once around where lips touch the class with a lightly soaped sponge.

None of my glasses ever get that funky dried wine/beer/spirits discoloration, so putting them in the dishwasher never seems like a necessary idea. Just a thought.

I use a dishwasher for rinsing but my washer has never had any detergent run through it. I use it for rinsing only because it uses water hotter than my hands can stand.

I just use the sprayer on my sink and blast my glass with hot water after use, rarely do I use soap on them unless I had a super sticky RIS or something.

The only time I use soap is if the glass has been sitting say overnight. Mostly like someone else mentioned I blast my favorite glass with the sprayer or soak it an rise well, air dry. The dishwasher is death on logos.
