Do the amazon available spiegelau non branded IPA glasses (the dfh / sn style ones) have the etching in the bottom?
The reviews and info didn't seem to indicate.

They have a very small circle etching about 1/8" in diameter. Produces around 2 line of bubbles.

I ordered two of these and they just arrived with a surprise.......6 extra glasses! Amazon sent me the gift box which contained 4 sets of two! 8 glasses for the price of two, not too shabby....thanks Amazon!

What are people's reasons behind drinking lagers and IPAs (or any beer for that matter) out of a pint glass? It seems to me that a tulip/snifter type glass would be better than a pint glass for any beer. But I'm no beer scientist, so this is a serious question and not a remark.

on a few occasions i've poured a single beer into a variety of glasses to see the differences in experience based on glassware and some beers it is drastic. if the nose has characteristics that excite you, you'll want a bulbous bottom with a tight mouth...however sometimes the nose can have some intense smells that if too concentrated detract from there beer in which case you'd want a tulp vs a snifter or even something more open and less focused. if the beer benefits from warming up, stemless or holding the bulb will enhance the experience better, but if the brew is best kept chilled...hold it by the stem.

it is really interesting at how much the glass plays into the experience. i find the biggest differences to be in the nose which is a leading indicator to your taste buds, but at times the visual can be a big factor on your experience and the room you have to swirl the liquid can really help to open it up...but like everything, these are minor nuances...and some people can't tell the difference between a cassette and a cd (i know, i know...what's a cassette and what's a cd?). if this topic interests you at all, in encourage you to get a bomber of something you like and lay out 4 or 5 glasses and give each glass a 4 or 5oz pour and see if you find a difference. one sticking point in this was sharing a bottle of CBS with a buddy right when it came out. i had my pour in an oversized snifter and he had his in a large duvel glass and the differences in nose and even in taste made us question if the duvel was clean or had some residue in it since there was no maple and the snifter sung big maple notes.
