There are many beers that I've tried and lived up to the hype, but one exceeded my expectations...

    Abrasive! Loved it!

Zombie Dust was just getting super hyped when it came in on tap in Toledo, and it completely blew me away. KBS also lived up to the hype; completely awesome stuff. I've also always loved Hopslam, and that was one of the first majorly hyped beers I got to try. Loved it six months old, fresh from the bottle, and fresh on tap.

Pliny the Elder for sure - a nearly perfect beer that continues to please and impress me.

I don't think any beer ever lives up to the insane amount of hype "we" generate.

But I generally don't fall for the hype/don't buy into it, so I don't find it to be an issue.

I guess I'm just saying I try not to build up the idea of a beer before I have ever had it (by my own thoughts or by "buying into the hype").

Abner. It's the only HF beer I've had at this point, but it lived up to the hype very well. Also, Kern River citra exceeded the hype for me. These two could hardly be better.

Hopslam, had always heard of it when I first started during getting into craft but was never super impressed by Bells so never sought after it, til this year. Needless to say have had it since and omfg it is amazing, super complex ipa. And if Mr. kzoobrew is out there I give you my sincere apology sir, have given two hearted a second chance and it's a damn tasty ipa.

got that as an extra in trade and knew nothing about it. Was completely blown away by it. Sometimes it's nice to be completely surprised.

As for beers that lived up to the hype? CBS, Heady, King Henry, Abrasive, Sucks, and maybe Gandhi Bot.

Beers that didnt? Pliney (still great but the hype is unwarranted) and Imperial Biscotti Break.

Agreed x10. Realized this when I got the opportunity to have Westy XII. I was honestly surprised when i took a sip and my head didn't explode. I already know that unless they cause me to spontaneously ejaculate, I am destined to be disappointed when I finally manage to get my hands on certain beers. Specifically referring to KBS, Hunah, Black note, HT etc.

However, now that I think about it, I may have had to clean my panties the first time I had BBB, and that had no hype on it whatsoever....

    Definitely imperial biscotti break
Westy 12 almost did, but it's just too damn hyped.
All Cantillon lives up to hype, except Fou Foune. Again, too hyped and it's the same beer as other Cantillons, just a different fruit.
3F Golden Blend lives up to hype. Best beer i ever had.
Pliny was slightly underwhelming because i had it so early in my beer journey that i expected more because of the high ratings, and it was just a beer.
