I live in northwestern ontario. Im travelling to southern ontario soon. While I have some supply (i should have more, haha), what are the major beer I should try? I'm an IPA fan, but willingly to try anything as I have people asking all the time. Any suggestions?
Hit some breweries if you are heading to Toronto area, Great Lakes, Amsterdam, there are a lot of great small batch beers to be found there (Calm Before the Storm, which is the second runnings of Amsterdam's Tempest, might still be at the brewery)
If The Flying Monkeys Smash Bomb isn't available up North definitely grab some of that (heck stop at the brewery on your way South and take a tour) A large handful of LCBO's in the Barrie area have Red Racer IPA as well.
picked up a few on a recent trip south, but have yet to try them, including dead elephant, hops and robbers, and boneshaker... willl get into them soon enough though and give em props if any good. the mad tom from muskoka is alright but not spectacular.
the dead elephant lived up to its name, hops and robbers is a nice APA, but the boneshaker is a decent IPA. the pumpkins are out now, black creek and GLB make decent ones, and the rest of their lineup is solid from what ive tried so far.
I can vouch for the awesomeness of Barrie. Has always punched way way beyond its weight when it comes to Ontario cities with breweries.
Dead Elephant is good, Boneshaker is better. Other than that, there isn't a whole lot to speak of from the province.
