Just booked flights to Gdansk in October and hopeful that any locals or previous visitors can point Mrs. Kozel and I in the direction of some decent bars/pubs. Thanks in advance
Was there about a year and a half ago. This place was undoubtedly my favourite : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Degustatornia/202532679770470 Bartender was a mine of information, happy to let you taste and had a great selection of Polish brews on tap as well as bottles. Ale Browar and Pinta were my tops : http://www.alebrowar.pl/en/ http://www.browarpinta.pl/ Noticeably cheaper than the UK. Enjoy yourselves.
Thank you, Degustatornia was one of the places I looked up. Haven't booked a hotel yet, but fancy Hotel Gdansk with it's on-site brewery.

Haven't booked a hotel yet, but fancy Hotel Gdansk with it's on-site brewery.[/QUOTE] Good place to stay, right on the river. Visited there once and sampled the black beer which was good, altho the waitresses in frills and some guy playing the accordion wasn't my bag. Food looked good tho. Another place that has some brews in their fridge is called the Amsterdam Beer and Bagel. Had a bottle of Ale Browar Golden Monk saison and Pinta Zytorillo which were both excellent altho a little pricey compared to Degustatonia. This place was near to my hostel and just down the road is this pancake place which was great : http://nalesnikowo.com.pl/pages/nasze-menu.php I had breakfast here everyday on an early bird offer, £2 or so for a large stuffed pancake and coffee. Most sweet and savoury pancakes tho were no more than £4. Place called Bar Pod Ryba did a good line of huge mother sized baked spuds with toppings for about £5 which would fill you up for the day. This is a good guide to Gdansk : http://www.inyourpocket.com/gdansk
