I'm moving to CO soon but as good as the beer is out there, I'll sure as hell miss this place.

Agree. All of the Philly/S. NJ Wegmans and Whole Foods generally have very good selections. For some harder-to-find items I check smaller bottle shops though.

Our mini-marts often have a better selection that beer stores in other places, and our supermarkets have a betterselection than our mini-marts. There was a thread about when the data came out, not too long ago, I'll go look for it.

It's a sad situation CDave, as others from MA has pointed out. The only real big surprise is the family owned supermarket near us started carrying beer from a little known micro-brewery near us, hand delivered by the brewer/owner. Seeing bombers squeezed in amongst all the big boys 30 packs makes me happy!

Excellent list. I still am smiling after noticing that for Supermarket Beer Sales your state is the only one which is listed as "rarely"

National market chains have the normal major players like Stone, Sierra Nevada, Anchor, New Belgium.

High end markets like Whole Foods always have a much more diverse and expansive selection of craft offerings.

Contrary to common belief in the state, whether a grocery store can be licensed to sell beer along with other products at the same register (as opposed to in a separate, sometimes attached "liquor store") is not a state rule but is up to the individual municipalil------------ Oh, wait - I see this is an older thread (not the one you started earlier today re: NY Rochester v Albany's market) and I already explained this in post #26 on page 1.

Another Iowa guy here. Hy Vee almost has a monopoly on supermarkets here in the Quad Cities (border between Iowa and Illinois). It's not a problem, though, because almost every single one of them in the area has a large wine & spirits section. The smallest one you'll see will still have a good selection of six-packs, bombers, and 750ml bottles. Some might have growlers from nearby brewer Bent River, but they all have their six-packs.

Pretty damn good, Ruination 2, most of the major suppliers, too many to name. Local beer growler station. It's getting better quickly.

I can't remember either but it comes out to a 12 pack and a bomber basically.

Taking Whole Foods out of the question, around here the groceries are in the 'not bad' range (and probably 'improving' as well). I just popped into a Shop Rite store the other day and came away with a sixer of Union Jack (under 2 months old) and a 2-year old Orval. You can always find something to get while you're there.

Craft sales are more consistent throughout the week. For holidays people tend to buy cheaper beer in higher quantity packages for parties, BBQ's, etc. But I'd say craft sales are atleast double compared to domestic overall, making up 75% of my total beer sales on a regular week.

For as long as I can remember WV permitted sales in stores. Unfortunately with such limited craft beer distribution to the state, it doesn't really matter. Lucky for me, living in the panhandle, I'm 2 miles from PA and 1 mile from Ohio!
