Obvious suggestion is Offshore Ale company. It's a brewpub in Oak Bluffs. I visit every time I'm on the island. They may not get much chatter around here, but they make a handful of beers I like including two hoppy offerings (Hop Goddess, and their DIPA), as well as their oatmeal stout and helles lager.

A place called The Sidecar is a restaurant in Oak Bluffs where you can get a decent beer.

In Edgartown there are a couple places with some decent offerings, including the Newes pub, and another place right on main st called The Port Hunter.

thanks! Actuallly my brother is going and I was wondering if there were any New England Brewing Company, Berkshire, Hill Farmstead, and or any other breweries I am not familiar with bottles at any of the stores for him to bring back to me.

Oh bottle shops. Frst off, there's no HF or NEBCO. Berkshire is possibly findable. Your brother would have to go either Jims package store, or a place called Our Market...both close to each other in Oak Bluffs. I found Our Market to be slightly better, not by much though. Pretty Things and Cisco bottles were there last time I stopped in (at a cheaper price than I see it for near me on the mainland...which makes no sense)...and I dont think you get either of those in PA.

Was there a couple weeks ago. From what I recall, bottle selection seemed slightly better than previous years but is still a craft beer desert for the most part. In particular I noticed a couple places carrying Maine Beer Company. Others seen were Pretty Things, Dogfish Head, Stone and Jack's Abby, 21st Amendment and Cisco among others. The key however is freshness (or lack thereof) as I imagine most places understandably stock up for peak season and a lot of inventory lingers as a result. One store however put out out Stone Enjoy By (09/15/13) while I was there which was nice to see. I didn't pick it up as I had a few bottles of it back home. Similar to jbertsch, Offshore Ale met any needs for good, fresh beer. They had a very nice Rye PA, an imperial stout & tasty IPAs while I was there.

Offshore Ale is a fantastic brewpub. Stick with their stuff on the island and you can have yourself a great little beercation.

Before or after he gets off ferry there is a Kappys in Falmouth that has decent bottle selection.

Offshore is pretty solid go to on island. If you like malty ipas Lazy Frog is good, Hop Goddess is Belgian IPA all the way. I most enjoyed the IDA. Not sure if its year around. I also here their impy stout is good. I think its seasonal though

Better to buy on the main land. Limited selection and higher prices on the island not to mention having to lug it around. I would go to Kappys and enjoy Falmouth at the same time.
