I'm behind the bar at the Blue Nile tomorrow, you should take DaveAnderson's advice and come by and visit! After that, go to Icehouse for the Surly Wet release.

Blue Nile is a definite "must go" if you're in that neighborhood of Mpls. It's a place that's easy to miss due to minimal exterior signage, and it's a dumpy building in a semi-dumpy neighborhood. Even as you walk through the doors you're thinking "this can't be a destination for craft beer".

But once you make it inside and your eyes adjust to the dim lighting (there aren't any windows) you'll see a bar off to your right. Depending on what time of day it is, it's possible there may only be a few people sitting there. Even though it's not crowded, you'll probably see a middle aged guy running around behind the bar, fiddling with taps and such, always staying busy. And that would probably be Al (feloniousmonk).

Once you sit down and have a look around, you'll realize you're in the right spot. You'll probably notice some local brewery schwag, correct glassware, and plethora of good beers on tap. If you're so inclined, grab some food, it's hearty and delicious (Ethiopian food). Drink some local beers and enjoy the non-pretentious atmosphere.

Say what's up to Al, there's rarely a local beer event where I don't spot him. Dude is a wealth of local beer knowledge and can probably point you in the right direction for (other) Twin Cities beer destinations.

Well said Mr. Anderson. I would also like to add (as I usually do - no affiliation btw) that Butcher and the Boar is a must (downtown 12th and hennipen), particularly the beer garden while the weather is nice out (if you are still around). Also, if you are in S. Mpls, Buster's on 28th and Muddy Waters always has great taps, many that you likely can't get in PA. Get a pint of a four pack of Wet before you leave, that will be a memorable one for you.

Trying not to confuse the guy too much. Throw St. Paul in the mix and it quickly becomes overwhelming. Gnome, Pig, Ale Jail, Summit taproom, etc.

He said Mpls so I thought I'd let that one lie. However, Ahem, the bible mentions St Paul, but doesnt say anything about Mpls.
