Heading down to Jazz Fest in a couple weeks and looking for some insight on breweries, beer stores and beers I should check out while down there. Any info would be great!

We missed the Avenue Pub and I am kicking myself for it. I would not bother with Cooter Brown's it is out of the way and was a let down. I would also highly recommend the Abita tour. I know they don't have the greatest beer, but the tour is free and you pour your own beer from their tap wall, as much as you want. Basically free beer for an hour.

I would give Cooter Browns another go. They've recently added at least a couple dozen or so more taps, specifically located in a separate back area called the Snooty Cooter, offer much more serious craft offerings. Check em out on beermenus.com, you'll notice a much stronger selection than you recalled.

Any thoughts on Courtyard Brewery? I've been reading positive things about them online and plan on stopping by when I'm in town in July.

10-4, thanks for the info. They had almost no taps when I went, almost all bottles. Place was empty on a Saturday night and the oysters looked sketchy as hell. Not sure when I will be back to NOLA again, but thanks

Absolutely go there. It may have been my favorite part of my recent visit to New Orleans.

New Orleans is lots of fun. Unfortunately, breweries, brew-pubs are relatively scare. Avoid Cresent City Brewery at all costs! Limited selection, overpriced and an extremely rude bar staff! My suggestion is to just bar hop. So many unique, cool, dive bar types to see. Have fun!

Crescent City was terrible beer wise, food seemed OK though. There is actually a lot fewer craft beer spots and breweries there than I expected. Seems to be growing some, but very much the minority

Went to courtyard brewery on Friday and had a great time. Limited seating inside as well as outside. But it was a fun time. Great selection of house beers as well as guest taps & bottles.

Went to Courtyard last Thursday. The head brewer and staff were very friendly and passionate about beer. Thank you EgadBananas and everyone else who contributed to the New Orleans thread. I would have otherwise missed out on this gem. I found their brown ale to be amazing.

The brown ale, How Can Anything Ever End (I think was the name), was great!

Yeah thanks everyone for your input! Will definitely try to hit up Courtyard and some of the mentioned bars. I appreciate all the insight and the link to the former post I missed !
