I'm heading to Pleasanton in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know of a decent brewery/pub within walking distance of the Sheraton? Thanks!

The Hopyard in Pleasanton has Pliny and Blind Pig on tap usually all the time...along with many other good selections.

Handles on Main Street has a good selection as well at times, but after they let their beer guy, Chad, leave...its been hit or miss.

Not sure how far these spots are from the Sheraton, but they are worth at least checking out.

I'd also recommend our beer bar, Caps & Taps in Dublin.

Checking Google Maps, I think that The Hopyard would be a bit of a hike by foot (2.8 miles). I second the recommendation of Caps & Taps -- small beer pub/store with personable staff -- but even that would be hike from the Sheraton (1.6 miles walking and not very scenic). The Sheraton is close to a BART station, which would open up more options, if you are willing to go to somewhere further like Beer Revolution in Oakland. Cheers!

Dublin Sports Pub is about a mile or so from there. Usually has Pliny and some other good local stuff. Food isn't very good though.

And their beer lines are ridiculously dirty.

If he walked to C&T from the Sheraton, Id gladly buy him a round...assuming I'm tending bar that day. Haha

I used to live a few blocks from the sheraton thats across from stoneridge mall…there are NO good pubs within walking distance. You will need a rental car or a cab. As someone else mentioned, BART is very close, but its not going to take you anywhere worthwhile unless you go all the way to SF, which will take about 50 minutes.

You will be in no-man's land. Bring your own beer for the hotel.

Thanks for the heads-up. I only live 45 minutes away or so, but I had the option of staying overnight, so why not? If there isn't at least SNPA at the hotel bar, I will always have my trusty Cooler Of Doom if need be. Or a cab ride to hophead247's place...

In Livermore - Altamount and 8 Bridges Breweries are making some good beer. Altamount only does tastings and growler fills however. 8 Bridges has a nice tasting room, I have always enjoyed my visits there.

Come visit us in Dublin at Caps and Taps. Only place in that area that carries Cellarmaker, Rare Barrel...as well as local favorites like Drakes, Altamont, Almanac, etc.

We just had a Faction tap takeover last night. If you haven't had any of their beers, today would be a good day to. Cheers.
