Hey I am from the Chicago distro area and wondering 2 things:

    1) What are the best places to drink good/really good craft beer in Vegas (I am staying on the strip)

    2) Are there any good enough local or west coast beers to buy out there right now to justify me bringing a checked bag to bring stuff back?

    Thanks!!!

Check out the "Places" section of the site and just put Las Vegas in there. You should get a pretty good idea of where to go find crafty goods or which restaurants/casinos have the best offerings on tap.
Cheers & have a great trip.

The Yard house is really good and The Pub in the Monte Carlo is also a great place with a lot of choices.

    Cheers!

there are cheap-ish cans of craft IPA in one of the dinky convenience stores in the tunnel underneath the MGM Grand. we just bought those to walk around with. everything else is a rip off. one bar in the container park downtown had stickee monkee on their bottle list, at close to $40 i believe.

I'm not saying it is a good value, but most 18-22 dollar store bottles usually go for 35+ at bars.

Yea. I'm looking to bring some bottles home too if possible. Like Parabola, Stickee, anything like that out there? Or Big Bruery stuff

Considering this was a $21.99 bomber I dont think that is too outraguous for 1. a bar & 2. Vegas

I am going to LV next month myself and the Yardhouse looks good. If you haven't had any before, try Ballast Point Sculpin IPA as it is pretty damn good and on tap there so the website says. There is, if you are driving at all, a couple more that are places to try like Joseph James (out toward the SE corner of the metro area) and Atomic Liquor up by Fremont Exp. with Triple 7 near by that as well. Those are the ones I'm checking out myself so let me know if you come back before 4/9/15. Have fun.

The Public House right in The Venetian was the best place I went. Yard House at the Linq and The Pub in The Monte Carlo were good too.

Yep, you picked the right hotel for good beer. Public House is pricey (as it is in Vegas) but they had a very nice lineup when I was there last summer. IIRC the hours were pretty limited, though. The English pub in Aria had some good stuff, too.

Agree on Public House at The Venetian + you are there already!

They usually have a cask. About as craft beer as I could find in LV. Literally, I could just go there to drink every day when I'm out there.

When I go to Vegas, I take a few special bottles for the room. Other than that, I'm usually all about session beers, and if that happens to be a tallboy of PBR that I can buy in the drugstore on the strip and crack open on the street..... so be it. My friends always make plans to drive out a few miles and hit a real craft beer bar, but it never happens.

I will add Tag Lounge at the Linq. Great bottle selection and descent tap choices. If you play video poker they comp all beers under $9.00 so as long as you play max credits, even at a 25 cent level. As far as buying to take home the two best choices are Lee's and Total Wine. You will need a car for those.

The Yard House always has a substantial variety of craft brew, and passable pub food, this I know from driving through frequently.
As far as buying stuff to bring home, I refer you to above suggestions - but, pack with extreme care!

As others have said, Public House. Typically solid draft and bottle selections and the food is pretty good.
Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay can have a pretty good selection, if you find yourself down there. Again, the food is good, too.
