    Hey all,

I have read a lot on BA about ideally cellaring beers in a fridge at 55F, avoiding sunlight and most importantly avoiding temperature swings. My question is, if I have everything in a minifridge at 55 and then move to a new house, is there an issue with ruining the beer from a huge temperature swing as a result of removing them from the fridge in order to transport them (especially with moving in the summer)? Would this be worse than if I just kept them at room temperature in a closet? Or perhaps there is a better method of moving the beer. Just curious, thanks!

TEmperature isn't as big an issue as sunlight, as long as the swings are not too drastic. I wouldn't want to have the beer in a fridge, then into a hot car (even in a sealed box) for more that an hour or so (it wouldn't warm up too much in that time) then back cold, but, say, for most of a day I wouldn't want it.
What kind of time frame are you looking at? Is there any way you can borrow a cooler or something to transport the beer? or even leave it in the fridge, taped closed for the move?

Thanks for the reply! The move would likely take about 2 hours (from point A to point B). I have a fairly large cooler, so perhaps that would be fine to insulate the beer and slow down the warm up period? Maybe throw in a small amount of ice?

Moving the entire fridge would be a chore, especially with the weight/size and worrying about the bottles falling inside.

2 hours in a cooler with a light to moderate amount of ice should be fine...though outside temperature is a big factor (tougher the warmer it is outside).
