Beer judging category

    2012 Home Brewing
    Premiums Best of Show - $12
    1st - $12; 2nd - $10; 3rd - $5
    Entries must be entered between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012. Premiums will be paid and exhibits removed on Sunday, August 26, 2012, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
    RULES
    1. Contest is open to amateur brewers who are residents of Tennessee.
    2. It is requested that each bottle be labeled stating name of contestant and description of style to be judged.
    3. Each entry should be submitted in three (3) 10-14 oz. bottles. No swing tops allowed.
    4. Entries will be judged on clarity, aroma, head, initial impression, body and after-taste in a blind testing Friday, August 17, 2012.
    5. No entries will be allowed if participant is involved with the competition committee.
    6. No participants are allowed during judging. (Only chairman and judges and select kitchen staff.)
    LOT 1 - Light Ale
    LOT 2 - Dark Ale
    LOT 3 - Light Lager
    LOT 4 - Dark Lager
    LOT 5 - Best of Show​

    I am wrapping up my stuff for the contest in Brooklyn, First prize is one thousand Dow , no pro reviews but you get to serve your beer to 400 guests in person .

    I have to say this is overall the most bizarre competition description I've seen. The line I quoted however sounds like they do expect you to declare a specific style. And the later reference to "LOT 1 - Light Ale" etc. sounds like judging flights, not the entry categories. All in all though, I'd say the organizers really don't know what the hell they are doing, or at least don't know how to communicate it.
