Beer Karma. Is it back?

    I'm currently working on it, but wanted to give Beer Karma some time to rollout in order to get a better sense on where everyone stands. My goal is to apply the next update, which will include levels and titles, within the next week.

    This gamification is why it went away. A likely reason you lost a bunch of points is because a thread you were active on got removed or combined. Just relax, use the site, contribute, and enjoy whatever meaningless number you have.

    Yeah, I'm not really taking it all that seriously. Still, the question for me is (as it has always been): what's its point, exactly?

    i guess i dont really understand the beer karma either. At the beginning of the day I had 418 beer karma points and i posted 3 times today and rated a beer and i lost 9 karma points. I think they should do away with the karma. The karma isnt really important i want to try as many beers and rate them as possible

    If you didn't lose 9 points you probably wouldn't have posted this, but anyway ... the people spoke, we listened and it's back.
    It kind of does, however, it can also be taken away for numerous reasons. And it's hardly all over the place at this point.

    As noted several times, we don't divulge how all of this is calculated. But I'll give you an example: If a thread is removed for some reason, points from any posts and likes would eventually be removed as the items no longer exist.

    I think even more important is to fill in the complete info when one adds a beer. It's frustrating when you want to rate a beer and then seeing f.i. there's no ABV mentioned...
    Everybody can add a beer, but please, do it properly...

    @BenBreeg sometimes that information - like abv - is not available. Certain US states don't require abv be on the label at all or up to a certain abv.
