    Hello BA Community,
This is my first post, so please take it easy on me ladies and gents.
I'll be drinking four beers tonight that were gifted to me by a friend and was planning on drinking in the following order: Hopslam, GI Rambler IPA, Founders Black IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout (for dessert)
In which order would you drink these or similar styles?
    Thanks in advance.

Never had the Left Hand Miilk Stout, but I'd probably dirink the Rambler first as the taste may get blotted out if you drink the Hopslam before it. So, Rambler, Hopslam, Founders, Milk Stout - just my take on it. Enjoy them however you drink them , and welcome to BA!

Funny, i would put the Milk Stout after the IPAs but before the IIPA, just to switch things up but that's just me :grinning:

Personally I would drink the Stout first (so I don't have the hoppy bitterness on my taste buds) then probably the hopslam so you get the full flavor of the hoppiness. Then I'd finish with the other two. It's all up to preference. The Milk stout and hopslam are the stars of the four so I'd try to get the most of those style's flavor profiles.

Apparently my preference would be different from most.

    Stout, IPA, black IPA, IIPA

As nice as Hopslam is on a fresh palate, it might ruin some of the others following it.

    Edit:

And based on alcohol content...just with the Dark Penance (I'm assuming that's the black IPA) and Hopslam...you're going to have a pretty good night. Make sure to space them out, and maybe that even makes more sense to drink the much more 'light' Rambler in between.

Not an IPA drinker, but if they are big on bitter, they will render the Left Hand nearly tasteless in the end I would think.

I would drink the Hopslam first since that is the best beer you have.
Then I would go with the Founders Black IPA
For a change I would drink the Left Hand Milk Stout.
Then I would throw out the Rambler and get something that is good.

Going with that theory, I would quickly follow it up with the Rambler

Great to get different points of view and I can actually see going with many combos after reading through. I'm used to drinking high IBU beers, so not too concerned about that aspect. I believe Hopslam is 70 IBU and Black Rye is 78.
To SammyJaxxxx point, I think I'll go Rambler first. Haven't had a beer all week, so if I don't enjoy will know not to drink again. And it'll make the 2nd beer taste even better.
Black Rye will go second, since I've never had this and really want to taste it.
Hopslam third - I've been fortunate enough to have a few of these fresh (bottle and draft) so far this year and have another in the fridge as well.
Milk Stout last - have had this one a bunch of times. Afraid that the sweetness will ruin the next beer(s) for me. It's so sweet I think it can cut through any beer that comes before it after the first couple sips. Ending with the lightest beer and a little shugga.
FaradayUncaged, will be slow sipping over some poker, so it will be nice and relaxed flow.
    Thanks a lot everybody. Cheers.

Besides the Rambler, it's a solid lineup. Cheers and have a great weekend!

I'd go for a Malted Beer before a Hoppy Beer. Your palate gets coated with rich malty sweetness. Then when you sip that IPA, the malt gets canceled out and the hop oils shine through. That's how I do things.

Also, FWIW, Black Rye isn't a black IPA. I don't recall it being very hoppy or bitter.

In order of drain pours I would probably go: Hopslam, Founders Black IPA, GI Rambler IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout

    JK! :grinning:

Some people might tell you to go from light to dark, but after you drink the Hopslam all bets are off. More importantly, make sure to have munchies and water on hand if you want to go all out. You've got some great beers here.

    Cheers!

You can do it several different ways. Most interested to try first. Boldest flavor style first. Lighter to darker. No real rule. Just wash or use a new glass after each and have a glass of water with you to cleanse your palate.
    Welcome.

This is diet mode, since I'm in training. When it's on, it's on!
