OP, your time being on the site is fairly recent so you may not be aware this topic comes up occasionally. For a teaching moment to whoever wants to read the details it looks like two separate threads are involved in a search that I did. Try as hard as you can to set rules, the abbreviations and beer-related slang continue with the old as well as a bunch of new ones.

Ticker: A person with so much self loathing that they will drink any beer, even ones known to be terrible, in order to increase their "score".

 

IPA: A marketing term used to increase sales of beer regardless of what that beer is.

 

Whalez: A limited production beer that is made of Hype and the tears of Unicorns. Greatly sought after by "Tickers" because it doesn't matter what is in the bottle.

 

Shelf Turd, Once a hyped hard to get beer that now sits a shelf gathering dust.

Drain Pour: 1. Noun. A beer so bad that you actually pour it down the drain. Although it's probably not really that bad, but it makes you sound cool when you told everyone it was a drain pour.
2. Verb. The act of pouring a drain pour down the drain. Generally accompanied by photographing said act to post on Instagram, further enhancing your street cred as a true beer snob.

 

Beerqueathing - the act of passing on a beer you don't particularly care for to your neighbor or friend who will drink anything.

 

Troll: Someone who registers, often without specifying location or gender, just to start a thread posing a controversial question or statement with the intent to solicit heated responses/exchanges. Typically the troll never responds after the first post, unless it is to fan the flames and keep the thread going. Unfortunately, new members with serious questions are sometimes falsely accused of being a troll.

 

This one is great.

 

Some people find the drain pour blasphemous and will finish any beer no matter how terrible.

Does anyone have a term for this behavior?

Picked up a shelf turd at the bottle shop today just so I could tick it. It was a drain pour and I beerqueathed the rest of the six pack to my neighbor.

Also: Nonic pint: A glass that has a little bump-out near the collar that ostensibly is to capture and retain foamy head but in reality works as a fail-safe for your hand so your drunk ass doesn't drop your pint

 

Glasshole: that one friend who gets shitty with you because you felt like pouring your Pils into a snifter.
