OP's post summarized: "Where I'm from is better than where you're from because we're nicer and don't hide things from non-locals."

my response: yeah, i don't think localism is a thing with beer. maybe for some idiots who think beer bottles are pokemon cards but most of the people who drink beer are there simply to drink beer and could give a fuck less about keeping something a secret.

My approach has been to piss off the ultra beer geek/trader community to such a degree that they would never visit any brewery I might champion and/or open -- despite how excellent the beer might be.

i always go out of my way to try and show people a good time in Los Angeles (beer or otherwise) in an attempt to show people that they shouldn't believe (all) the negative bullshit they hear from whatever LA-hating town they come from

Based on some of the other posts going on around here it sounds like the out-of-towners aren't going to get the "regular" treatment in some places anyway so the whalez would be safe.

On a slightly more serious note, I do have my stores that I like and will recommend visitors to.

so what you will but I'll be going home tonight and enjoying a gandhi bot in the can (not in the bathroom),while others are driving around looking for it. lol.

I'll be happy recommend beer bars and breweries. stay away from my bottle shops.

BTW, the best place to get gandhi bot is at the brewery. check FB and go there. then there's amity right across the street. you can go there and see what they have.

I still haven't tried KBS to this day. Would I like to? Of course. Fortunately, there are so many good beers out there today that I always have several choices even at only a decent liquor store. I certainly don't blame people for seeking it out. I just don't go out of my way to acquire limited releases. Hence my response regarding telling others where they can get them. If I were so inclined, I can certainly see the dilemma in your scenario above.

I believe in sharing the wealth with those who will enjoy it. To this end, I share info on bottle releases, special nights, etc locally with the BA Canada forum despite potentially reducing my chances - partly because I doubt it will have a huge effect and partly because I know BA's will properly appreciate it.

A couple of the best beer spots around here are also sports bars, which I don't like. They fill up really quick and have low turnover on game nights and many of the patrons don't care about beer and drink the house lager. That is my only complaint.
