I plan to be in Salem on Saturday March 17th so while the rest of my family is shopping at Woodburn I plan to be watching March Madness on TV and drinking good beer. Venti's sounds like they can take care of the beer side but do they have TVs, a good bar to sit at, and good food? If not, any other suggestions -- other than The Ram which I didn't like. Thanks.
Unfortunately, the only TV's Venti's have are the ones that show the tap menu. As far as craft beer/sportsbar options go in Salem, you're pretty limited. The service at The Ram is horrible so I never go there. Magoo's in downtown Salem might be your best bet. A decent little sportsbar. You might want to call ahead and check the taplist though. I haven't been there for quite a while but I've heard they have some good options from time to time.
Thanks for the tip. Looking through yelp and urbanspoon I'm leaning towards Half Penny Bar & Grill. Any thoughts?
Yeah, unfortunately neither Venti's location has TVs. You might want to try the Gilgamesh Lounge/Tap Room downtown. I know they have at least one 50" flat screen and they regularly show Blazers games, so I'd imagine they'll be showing March Madness too. You might want to give them a call to make sure. The new lounge is at 210 Liberty St. SE (corner of Liberty & Ferry). I can't comment on Magoo's or Half Penny (haven't been to either), but I'm guessing you'll find some Deschutes and/or Bridgeport taps at the very least.
Also, Gilgamesh doesn't have food as far as I know, but they're probably OK with you bringing something or even ordering delivery.
