Yeah, the whole beer/metal thing is quite subjective or, as they say, in the eye of the beer-holder.

And let's not forget that BAs are a small segment of the craft beer scene as a whole, so there's really no telling what types of music the craft community gravitates to in general.

However, if you're going to go by label art and beer names as an indicator, then by far the biggest hobby or interest group correlation would be those into geography and history, since so many beers are named after local landmarks, events and people.

No, you are not the only non-metal fan here. As already noted by @vurt, beer goes well with almost everything.

Indy gets some blame as well. During our last driving trip though the mid-west, about two-three years ago, my wife and I did some sight seeing stops in Indiana while heading from KY to MI and for my benefit stopped at 3 different shops (not in Indy which I tend to avoid when driving). When I asked about some 3 Floyds, all three were negative and in two of the three places the reply included "Naw, this is not Indianapolis."

As powerful as Rodys voice, As complex as the riffs in Skies, and as beautiful as the guitars in Turn Soonest To the Sea.

I'm thinking a big RIS would suit them nicely.

Behemoth makes a Belgian IPA that'd I'd like to try! I love heavy metal and I love beer and I love listening to heavy metal while drinking beer.

1349 and Behemoth also have beers. There are some other bands as well that have slipped my mind. I love metal. Grutle and Ivar from Enslaved are super into craft beer. I saw an interview where they were sipping some Bigfoot!

Now that is a true metal brew. August Burns Red? Are you f***ing kidding me? Glad to see someone knows true metal is always the best choice for brew companionship. I find it coincidental that I am wearing my DarkThrone shirt, listening to some Dissection, and about to crack an Evil Twin Imperial Doughnut Break for breakfast as I see this thread/post. Cheers to true metal and cheers to great beer.

I'd love to try Trve's Scorn. Especially since it was named after a Primitive Man record (who are probably the best band to be featured in this whole beer/metal thing).

Maybe we need a new thread on places that combine beer + metal.

I'm probably one of the few who actually preferred Barnes on vocals in CC. I just love that old school gritty 90s sound.
Same reason why I'm a huge fan of Autopsy, Impetigo, older Carcass, Repulsion etc..

I think I figured out the real connection: overvaluing one's own opinion. Dogma.

Beer geeks think the beer they like is the best to the point of ridiculing others' opinions.
Metalheads think the metal they like is the best to the point of ridiculing others' opinions.

Just remember, kids who listen to ABR and other bands that are not metal enough for you brutal mofos could be listening to Beiber or Nickelback instead. Get some perspective.
