My wife always finishes any book she starts reading. If I get part way through a book and realize I don’t care for it, I quit reading and take it to the half price book store to get rid of. And bad beer goes down the drain.

Make chile, beef stew, or promises to the beer gods.

I usually work my way through it. If it's really bad I'll bring it to a craft beer buddy, tell him I hated it, and let him have a go. One time it was so bad I took it back to the store and made the beer manager drink it with his staff as punishment for selling it to me. It was a situation of "this is awful! You need to try it!"

The one thing I wouldn't do is drink it just to get rid of it. If I don't care for a beer after the first glass, I don't feel as if I need to drink the entire 4 pack or 6 pack to be really, really sure I don't care for it. If giving the leftovers away to a friend or acquaintance is a viable option, than I'd prefer to do that. I'm assuming we're not talking about a beer that is obviously flawed, but just a beer I don't particularly care for. If for whatever reason that's not an option, then I might try to make beer bread with it, or add it to some other dish. If none of those options are possible, than I'd dump it. At this stage of my life I don't ever drink a beer just to catch a buzz, and have long since reached the point that if I don't totally enjoy a beer, I'm not going to consume a bunch of empty calories just so I don't waste the purchase price of the beer.

These days it’s a nonissue here because we’re blessed with beer stores that have good staff and plenty of single bottles and cans.

    Oh.

    Silly me.

I thought that this was a thread about the guy who invented NEIPAs, and, much like Robert Oppenheimer, came to regret and loathe his invention.

I sometimes take risks such as not checking dates or buying older Beer. I am kind of picky most of the time so I rarely run into something I don't like.

If I do buy Beer that I don't like I drink it all anyway......that'll learn me.

    Cheers.

I don't recall a 4 or 6 pack drain pour. If I'm not buying a pack, I usually buy 2 beers with the view that If I like it, I'll want another. If I don't like it.. drain pour times 2. There will be something else in fridge I like.

I save them. Eventually I'll share them with guests at my house or throw them in a cooler when I go to a function or party. Somebody always drinks them.

I agree with this...after all alcohol really isn’t good for you right. So the way I see it I’m not consuming something both unhealthy and unenjoyable. I know a beer a night isn’t anything horrible but still, it’s alcohol so this is just how I look at it.

Single bottles are the best option for trying. My local store that I go to only stocks certain bottles as singles though. That’s usually the problem for me if trying to go this route.

It's hard for me to ever dump it. I bought a six pack of what I thought was a Porter about two years ago. Turns out it was actually a Vanilla Porter. Anyways, it tasted like ass. I had five bottles and didn't know what to do. Normally, I would use it when I cook. Porters are great for braising stuff. But Vanilla Porters? I don't want that anywhere near my short ribs. My next move was to toss it in a random cooler at some event I was hosting at my house and hope someone else might like it. Didn't work. I still have the five bottles two years and counting. I'm curious how much longer I'll let it sit in my basement before I just toss it.

Recent months I've really gone out of Milkshake IPAs. I feel these beers have gotten out of hand. My palette pendulum is for sure swinging the other direction to more simple flavor profiles. IMHO it is far worst than the IBU race of a few years ago; it is hot sauce on top of hot sauce on top of even more hot sauce.

The challenge has been mislabeling. I've purchased IPAs that were not called Milkshakes and they surly were. So what do I do when I get these? Simple, I give them to my wife hahaha

I tried one beer that I didn’t like from a 4-pack about 18 months ago. It sat in the basement next to the beer fridge until this weekend when I dumped it. I won’t miss it.

If it is truly horrible, I drain it, or bring it to gatherings to "share". If tolerable, I will drink it and or cook with it.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a 4 or six pack I disliked enough to drain pour. I’ve only poured a handful of beers, and they were singles. Lucky me I guess. Cheers!

I typically only buy new-to-me beers as singles, unless it's limited and I have a strong indication that I'd like it, either by reputation of the brewer, BA reviews, or description. For instance, I always end up buying multiples of the new BCBS variants before having a chance to try them.
