Hi All - I'm traveling to Sacramento, mostly Elk Grove this week for work, from Texas. Any good beer restaurants around that I can drop some company coin at? Good bottle shops?

I see the Old Town Pizza & Tap house seems to be pretty legit. Thoughts?

We get pretty good Firestone Walker distro down here, so I'm hoping to try some more local beer that I can't get ahold of... any place to grab a Pliny by chance?

Check out capitol beer and taproom. They don't serve food though.

If you're looking for Pliny, burgers and brew in midtown sometimes has it on tap (so did capitol beer about a week ago)

I don't really get to Elk Grove often but it's know that Old Town is the place out there. Don't know your transportation options, but if you are able to get into city, Capitol Beer and Taproom will have a good selection of draft and bottles to choose from. Hot City Pizza down the road from there will work too. Track 7, Device, and Bike Dog are the best local breweries if you can make it to them without making you drive to the surronding areas. Should be able to see Knee Deep bottles around town and maybe Berryessa, Auburn, or Tahoe Mountain on draft.

Pliny is limited and the shops post when they get them. It will be a Thursday and will sell out that day. Better chance to get on draft. Burgers and Brew on R street usually has it along with Pangaea. There are a lot of other IPA options though that are just as good. You should be able to get some Alpine on draft right now. I think everyone just got Hoppy Birthday.

Thanks for the reply guys - I'll have a car and will pretty much be by myself after work in the evenings, so I don't mind driving a bit. Doesn't sound like I'll be able to get some Pliny unless I find it Thursday evening (I leave friday am).

Good recco's on the substitute IPAs... will definitely try those. I'm dying to find a grapefruit sculpin as well... We get Ballast Point here, but I have yet to see grapefruit...

Grapefruit Sculpin seems to be rare up north as well. I know the LA crowd got small batches like a month after san diego got ours. I cannot remember if the very northern crowd got theirs or even how much of it.

You might be able to get some Grapefruit Sculpin but it already arrived and is probably gone.

Here's a good list of places if you come downtown and want to find a place:

Sorry, I don't know how long it'll be available. Give 'em a call and find out.

If you don't mind a short drive, there's a great beer store in Davis called the Davis Beer Shoppe. They have different tastings each day (check out their Facebook page to see what's on tap) and a very good bottle selection with a lot of California stuff
